  1. It is more impressive in sheet form to me. Door dings will someday be a thing of the past. I want memory shape door skins NOW
  2. Also won't be able to, 2" ers have no balls. A vertical array of a pair of them may be interesting depending on the pillar. If I had to choose a 2 or a tweet I'd probably do the tweet. None of the downfalls of the FR with the capability to play low enough to blend with the Extremis. I'd figure out a way of getting a little more space though and running a full size tweet if I could.
  3. Similar in construction to a bi-metal strip like we see in turn signal flashers I assume, only with much slower expansion and contraction rates, yes? Actually it is completely temperature dependent. ie, you can deform it at any rate you like but to reform you heat it to it's equilibrium temp and it snaps back rather quickly. Speed is controlled by the heating used. Super amazing to see first hand. First piece I held was about 8 years ago. Metal coupon the size of a business card and around 20ga. I bent the shit out of it. Crumpled into a ball. Then hit it with a heat gun and it flattened out PERFECTLY.
  4. Likewise. Tricky even active, but then you have ways around or to at least massage the other compromises.
  5. I'm drunk enough I watched the whole fucking thing, but didn't laugh once. What is funny?
  6. All that technology and they still let them play baseball, lol
  7. you could laugh even if it was my fail.
  8. Not my browser, the forum software. I have the same problem I think Adrian and others had. And Drew, it wasn't my fail so laugh away. I posted the same thing over and over and even corrected my post through edit and it still fucked up. Finally gave up and posted a new one. Being a mod you can't see my edits, but they were there. And believe me, I am a computer spaz, but fucking up an "[ i m g ] [ / i m g ]" is not something I'd do multiple times in a row.
  9. I give up
  10. Serious bullshit

  14. Lots of cool techniques going into making it work too. You can ask questions, but you'll have to google a bunch as I can only share published stuff.
  15. Vette was never Mg, had some Mg in it. Currently it is using the single largest hydroformed piece of alum in the world as part of its frame. Cool that they implemented shape memory alloy in the venting system for the rear hatch as well. If you don't know what shape memory alloys are it is worth a google. Super fucking cool. I've been working with a few Nasa spin offs that are making a solid state airplane (ie no motors to run the wings or engine, but it will fly).

Sure someone would trade shipments with you, lol
  17. The only generic answer is to get them as close to the woofers as possible, as far from your ears as possible, up as high as possible, as equal distant as possible, and away from all reflecting planes. In a car the above is not possible so then it comes down to compromises. Your car will determine the compromises, but compromising on the least of the above is a good starting point.
  18. Doing some work with active noise cancellation utilizing the audio systems of cars as well. That is public, the techniques however are not.
  19. The different colors above signify different materials. For instance the dash assembly in the MDX is magnesium, the vette/rover all aluminum. On the Silvy it is mostly different tensile strength steel. ALL of it has to be verified for structural integrity and optimized for NVH behavior. Generically speaking that is what we do.
  20. Ha, that doesn't happen really ever, just happened to be invited somewhere that this was all a bit of public domain. This is about the stage where my work normally starts. FEA correlation, noise source identification, damping placement, and more of course.
  21. Aargh, sometimes I really hate this forum software Test
