  1. One caveat of course. With Neal's help you can probably pull off active, but on your own not so sure I'd experiment.

    Perhaps a toothbrush shirt....

Should make a new one, where Retards get Ripped off.
  4. Ported 12" takes some crafting and a small (cheap) lift or glass work. Sealed 12 is easy. ie, 2 cuft is available without trying super hard.
  5. Also, are you saying 2-3" instead of a tweeter or with? Until now I thought in addition, but re-reading I am wondering.
  6. How did you determine it was 10k up? Just asking because 9 out of 10 times what frequencies are thought to be what they are, aren't. Okay, probably more than 9. Once determined curious if you did anything to try to resolve it?

I don't like any after last week. But if I had to sit in one for a while and steer it around it needs to be comfortable.
  8. I didn't own mine for very long, but that is because we came to different conclusions. Wasn't bad, just nowhere near my favorite sub. I don't know about 10x, but I think what you are trying to say is that most people who install L7's suck at installing anything that sounds good. I have a 12" L7 and if you heard it you'd be shocked I think.
  9. Sean I hate to do this, but I disagree completely on one point. The 25nfa is a great tweeter, absolutely loved mine but they are terrible below 4kHz. Just flat out won't work. I had MLi's, I had the nfa's, and no way would they ever play nice together. Actually they'll play fine together but you will be missing out on some of the primary frequencies of recorded music. OP, you CAN'T shop for tweeters yet. First you need a crossover, then you need to know potential mounting locations. Being more sure on mids would help too, but that sounds like you are pretty close. And by first I don't mean you need to buy but you need to know what your options are.

Nope. You're not burying a dog, or nursing your wounds over something that happened. You are sharing quite simple pointless shit with us. J Technically I am nursing my wound...$109 ticket for doing 5 over on a deserted highway at 1AM. That's cheap

Home security, audio, video is a slippery slope. Those are standalone, I'd prefer something integrated. Peak at the Worthington Distribution catalog, just ignore the prices as I can help you with wholesale.
  12. So you want a fart box?
  13. Umm, YIKES. The goal of the fuse isn't for the amp, but for the wire. If it isn't RIGHT at the source you might as well not even have it. Of course if your amp has no fuse then you need one locally to the distribution for it as well, but that should be sized for the amp while the other for the WIRE. It'll also void your insurance if you have a problem and they figure out you screwed that up. I'd suggest fixing it PRONTO.

    This is awesome! Agreed!
  15. How can subjective with a sample size of one, maybe two influence yours?Building here is a completely different topic. My comment about overseas before was based on part choice, not assembly. That of course would also be an influence, but unlike most who shop for drivers I've been in a bunch of plants in Asia. None of them are impressive and the ones I've been in that were in China were by far the worst. Mind you these weren't simple driver plants either but hard drive assembly plants. Takes a bit more technology to do that, although an average worker here can fare. Not the case there.
  16. A friend with a guess that is "working" for him is still a guess. And still will give up potential that you'll leave on the table had you just built a standard ported enclosure. The benefit you think you'll gain isn't going to happen.

Had to vent somewhere. Probably should have elsewhere, but alas I feel better so fuck it.
  23. What I think he meant was....the SA is a proven design. It holds it's own in the SPL world and it holds it's own in daily installs. It has repeatedly been proven to not burst into flames in situations where it's specs say it should. Whether that's a product of it's design or a product of marketing is... irrelevant really, considering it's price. There are hundreds of people who are satisfied with the SA series so to count it out with something as simple as "Oh, the GCON has 3 inch coil, it'll take more power" is ridiculous. There are some subs out there with 4" coils...does that mean they automatically take more power than anything with a 3" coil? Nope. I understood what he meant, but a "proven design" and "holding it's own in the SPL" world doesn't mean anything to me. We all know what influence the user/builder has on that outcome. As for the subjective better cooling I wouldn't let that influence me either. And please don't misread my comments, I never said that a 3" coil insures higher power ratings. Nor did I say there was a problem with the Sundown and not to use it. My comment was really much more simple. There isn't so much differentiation in the world of 2.5" coil drivers. Pretty much a ton of them on the market. And IMO the coil size is indeed a compromise and it doesn't take too much intelligence to figure out why that compromise was made. And yes, that portion would definitely influence my decision if I were the one shopping.
  24. Then just run a standard 4th order ported. Will yield what you are looking for better.
