That's just it, it isn't about the brands or the amps but the install. And yes, it is easily possible to take some $5 over stock drivers and install them right and have them perform better than a $1000 component set just slapped in factory locations.

    Great sound means great budget
  3. Won't matter where you put your fronts if you are putting those in the rears. Just put them where it's easy. Either you are choosing not to notice or you don't.
  4. Hope you aren't a midbass nut.

Now take it out before 120. Mine usually comes out somewhere near 105, lol
  6. Pretty hard to have a policy when you have highly unmotivated workers. What i don't get is why American's are so keen to buy on price. Sure the hell doesn't fly in Germany.
  7. Why would you disagree?
  8. I'm a it depends on the car, the budget and the goals guy. In a perfect world I wouldn't even run tweeters in a car. Of course atm my system is absolutely stock, although it would still score better than many of the SQ competitors lol. It is critical though to pick your mounting locations before picking drivers. Different drivers are better at different things. That being said if we knew more about your install it would help us help you more.

Putting in the Xcon in a 3cuft box took up 3" of my leg room....so I moved the seat back 3" and figured why not raise it while I was at it. WAY WAY WAY more comfy.

It's harder to eat well when consumed with projects and little ones. The boat is "done" outside of filling her up wtih gas and actually installing the LED's. The wires are pre-pulled, the circuit is ready, but the parts aren't here yet. 8 20" strips of RGB with an infinite controller ought to make it fun. Blue to match when I want and red for not fucking night vision complete with dimmers. Party & Fuck lights

I've been eating like shit lately. It's addicting. And NOT at all based on flavor.
  12. You are balancing an act of dealing with interference both constructive and deconstructive in a car. In general minimizing this should be the first goal as they will wreak havoc on your frequency response. Of course like anything in a car it is a compromise. Reflecting has a longer path length which is another thing you want to maximize in order to make the L/R as similar as possible. That being said in general it is still a terrible idea to fire off the windshield. Comparing an install where this question even comes up to one owned by someone with an ear for seriously tuning parametric equalizers and really dealing with the anomalies correctly is not a good idea. Sure competitors can do this and in some classes based on the rules might even be logical but the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and in general there are much better ways to achieve great sound. So yes, if you aren't willing to spend hours tuning and have both the gear and ear to do so then I'd avoid firing it at the glass. Reflections are a serious bitch. Have you ever seen a home audio system reflecting off anything? Serious listening rooms put traps and all sorts of things to block as many reflections as possible for this exact reason. Sure you may gain some staging but at the cost of frequency response. That compromise is not one I would ever recommend.

Very true, for the price I can get them for through my friends shop they are kind of hard to pass up FWIW. If they are more than $30 I wouldn't bother.

I haven't seen them, but have no interest either. There is no magic sauce that makes pro audio mids work, just major compromises. Personally I'd always rather pick my own. Amusingly the next drivers I am personally ordering are 8's and PA mids. Need some BALLZ for the boat tower. I can guarantee one thing. There are cheaper drivers that will do what you need better. Of course, knowing what that is helps pick them.
  18. Umm, no. Basically that has already been done. It'll take a quantum leap of sorts to really bring any improvement and for the OP that won't matter anyways as what he has is already more than fine.

Thank god it was past tense. I love the "it isn't for subs since it isn't sealed" comment. WTF? Pro audio gear is so bad ass it can run free air!
  20. Yep, where locals wear fur coats when it hits 65F. Heater indeed. Don't run them so they get hot. Best part is he "heard" a barely audible if at all difference. Nice and scientific. ROFL.

I hope no one is surprised by this. Should not be shocking news for one of the prize technologies touted on a Chrysler vehicle to be crap. Just so many reasons year after year to never touch any of their products (discounting the Viper). Speaks volumes about the billions Damlier pumped into that company and the well done tried and true tech they passed on and Chrysler is still this bad. Daimler actually didn't pump in billions but instead looted their cash for other developments. While that may be an issue now I'd consider it a growing pain and I fully expect Chrysler to make a huge improvement in the upcoming years. Of course it isn't like htey could fall much lower than a few years back, lol That's news to me. I was under the impression that Damlier intended to buy and save the company from another failure and make it profitable for the future. To me, the difference in price the paid and the price they sold is quite interesting. They bought Chrysler in a spot when they had enough cash to survive for a really long time. When they sold them the cash had magically disappeared. Daimler's facilities had also some major improvements. I hope Chrysler improves, hell we own them. They've not done so in over 30 years, so why would they start now? Because the market is finally asking for it here. That alone might kill GM.

Last time I had that was for breakfast. Straight out of the bottle. Nice college graduation breakfast hidden underneath the gown

By the way by strong I didn't mean by proof. Heck I really didn't mean strong most likely. I meant something with a distinct and unique flavor, which I associate with "stronger" bourbons and whiskey. I'd call that big.

    Ding ding ding
  25. Nothing in that was related to technology which hasn't changed and won't be. Exactly.
