  1. here is a pic of the setup before it was removed from the explorer
  2. Just finished an install on my 95 probe. Put a DD 3515 in 3.5 cubic foot (after displacement) box with 2 - 4" aeroports at 17.75". Hooked to a RF 1000a2. Box is a standard CRX design. I've been toying with box placement and right now its sub up port to the side. Sounds decent, but a friend had this exact setup in his 98 Explorer and it was quite a bit better in there. So I'm assuming the problem is related to box design, tuning or placement. Any suggestions??
  3. why not put it half in/ half out. if that drawing is to scale it would appear you'd have the space unless the displacement of the port inside the box is too much. where did you find a 8" aero for sale? I've only found them up to 6".
  4. I'm interested in seeing the brushed aluminum, silver engine turn and fire.
  5. well, I've been corrected... Talked to my friend to get specs on the box. It's 3.5cf after displacement and it did have 3 - 4" aero ports but he removed one and blocked it off so only 2 and they are 17.75". The sub is a D series if that helps. either way I suppose I can hold off on my 150db goal and make the best of what I've got. Not sure what the Ideal box size, or port/speaker placement will be for my application. In the future I could add another sub and/or more power to try for 150+. For sure its going to be a step up from the 2 12" thunder 8000's I'm running right now.
  6. DD's site says 35-40hz, but that sub is a newer version. What I've got is one generation before the current version I think. Not sure if they made any significant changes, but if they did the recommendations on their site might not be correct for this sub. Either way I'd like to tune it as low as I can reasonably get away with. Its going to be a daily setup, won't be going straight spl or anything like that. So I don't want it to a point it will destroy SQ altogether but I love hard hitting low end bass. I'm definitely open to suggestion.
  7. I'm in the process of starting a new install in my '95 Probe. Purchasing a DD 3500 series 15 and RF 1000a2 from a friend. Initially I plan on running the box he was using in his Explorer which is around 5cf. with 3 4" aero ports, can't remember the length. I'd like to build a new box to better fit the Probe, and I'd like to see if I can't get a little more out of the setup in the process. In the Explorer this setup has metered at 147.?db and I'd like to see if I can't manage 150. Any suggestions on box design would be appreciated. I'd like to keep it tuned low ~30-32hz.
