Turntables
Touche sir. I was going based solely on my experience with turntables in a scratch/dj since. I used to do a little bit as a hobby and all the pros pimped the directs hard, but I totally see what you're saying. A belt would make more sense for home use.

Turntables
I don't think there is that much difference, but the newer ones are of a better quality. I used to own 2 Numark TT-1520's. They were nice and had great sound quality. Look for direct drive turntables. They are better than belt drive.

Why is salvia not illegal?
salvia, from what I've read, is a type of sage. The salvia people use to get high is called " salvia divinium" or diviner's sage.

I'd look into Kenwood. They have a DNX-6140 that is similar in style and features to the F90BT.Built in navigation by Garmin.Parrot Bluetooth.Direct iPod control.DVD feedback. Double Din 6.1" fixed screen, and a rear/sub switchable pre-out.If you are shopping on eBay the 6140 seems to be about $725 brand new.As far as a refurbished unit, if you are already putting in hundreds of dollars into a nice head unit, go ahead and by new and get the full warranty.Sure it may save you money, but think about how long you'll be sitting there punching yourself in the head when the unit goes out and the short term warranty is over.As far as looks, the 6140 is pretty sharp, but the F90 is pretty sleek as well, with the gloss finish on the face and the variable illumination. The 6140 has variable illumination as well.I've installed several of both and haven't really found too many peeves about the DNX-6140. I'm sure the F90BT is pretty impressive as far as sitting in your buddie's car and playing around with it from time to time, but as far as owning it and using it everyday there are a number of things that grow old.The F series seemed too good to be true in production, and was a trainwreck when released.Though the engineers and techs have come up with many updates to fix many of the problems, Pioneer has already released a whole new line to replace the F series.I hope this helps.Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Joe Thanks dude. That is a good unit and you are very informative. I have a KCD-X692(borrowing indefinitely from a friend until I buy my double din) right now, and I must say I love kenwoods handling of ipod way better than pioneers i've seen. My friend with the f90 has to open his glove box and turn the ipod on every time he starts the car. I leave my ipod in the car everyday and i never have to do anything. It starts automatically. I have another question that you are anyone else could help me with. Because I want to stay as cheap as possible, should I cut NAV out of the equation? pros of having nav: -sleek(no extra stuff) -instant directions cons: It is a lot more expensive than similar units without it pros of not having nav: cheaper(plus I have a magellan I can use if I go somewhere unfamiliar) cons: have to remember directions or think to to bring external gps before hand I know I sound like a cheapskate, but I live alone and make about $1000 a month. I've got bills and need to save for other things like repaying my student loans, etc. I wanna make sure I get the most bang for as few bucks as possible. Some people are the Geo Metro(cheap ass Jensen or Dual) type of people, and some or the Porsche 911($2000 head unit) type of people. I'm a Toyota Camry type guy and I'm looking for the Toyota Camry of DvD(possibly/hopefully NAV) units. Just to clarify my situation so you guys can understand the situation. Thanx for your answers so far(especially you, Joe) and I will appreciate anyone and everyone's further input. This is a damn-friendly Audio form.I'm glad I started coming here

DVD H/U sugestions
another thing. multiple AV inputs would be nice. the f90bt requires you to use both the ipod cord and your only input if you wanna see and hear it. If I can find a comparable unit with at least two inputs, I'm gonna buy a digital converter box and a stealth antenna and do the mobile tv thing(already got my free coupon and found a box that runs off of 12 volts)

That is too much. I'm not gonna spend a grand for anything less than a 50" screen.lol. I want the middle of the road. Not a Jensen, but not a $1000 H/U.

DVD H/U sugestions
Ok, I'm looking to put a new H/U in. Here are my parameters: -nav built in bluetooth built in -ipod control -dvd -double din -5.8" or bigger screen -sub pre outs Right now, I'm leaning towards the Pioneer Premier f90bt. A friend of mine has one and I'm really impressed with it. I can find it for about $650 new and $475 refurb on Ebay(would you guys trust a refurb???) The only thing I don't like about the unit is the cd slot. Its petty, but I'm used to flipdowns where the slot is behind the face. I think it looks a little sleeker, plus you get an extra inch or so of screen. Opinions on this unit? Anybody have any suggestions for similar units, preferably around the same price range? Thanks in advance.

best 15 and amp for my money
i have a nice HU right now. I just really want an f90bt(pioneer premier). It just a coin toss decision on which i should buy first. if i buy the HU first I can use it with my old subs for a while, if i buy the amp/sub first i can use it with my current HU(kenwood excelon kcd-x692, friend is letting me borrow indefinitely). Either way I'm gonna be happy. My original plan was to buy the HU first, but if i get paid enough soon, I'm gonna take advantage of some of the deals. ex. Audibel Customs free box w/sub deal, Sundown's presale deal on SAE-1200d, etc. If I don't have the cash before these sales end, I'll probably buy my new HU first. Keeping electricity, cable and water at the house is more important than the audio in my car. That's why it will take a couple of paychecks(maybe even a month or 2 per part) Basement?????LOL Baton rouge is south Louisiana. LSU has a few building with basements on hills, but most of the state is at or below sea level. Myself and a few friends will be doing the installs. We can do it individually by ourselves, but we like to get together and take too long, forget parts, and curse at vehicle panels. We do good work, but it always takes longer than expected. Oh well, that is the fun part for me. i enjoy installing stuff Im understand your situation and just like you when it comes to car audio, I buy in sections and install what I can when I can. But if you want to get rid of the radio and give it back to your friend then get the H/U because sundown is going to have the amp on presale for some months and still at a reasonable price when it comes out. By what will please you first and get your system going in the direction you want (if you buy your subs and amp right now remember box, wires, terminals, connectors, fuses and whatever else will be needed to complete the install just to listen to it). Maybe once you start working me and getting more hours you may be able to up your budget on sub and amp, who knows? i see what your saying about the HU first deal. That was my plan before I saw the deals.I might still get it first. It runs $650-$725, depending on where you find it. My budget for the sub/amp is a number I arbitrarily decided that I maybe should not cross. Here is a simple layout of my finances with the new job: $9/hour(i'm an uncertified pharm tech. it goes up to about $11.25 once i'm certified in about 3-4 months) I average about 30 hours a week my bills equal about $350/month I spend about $120/month on gas the rest I can save, excluding food and DAF(dick-around-fund)not sure how much I spend on those, but there is always a corner or two that could be cut I added it up one time for school and I spend about $700/month if i don't change anything(ex. i eat out a lot, go to movies a lot, etc)

best 15 and amp for my money
I'm aware of the presale situation. I did a little math. Here is how it stacks up(provided I can get the cash quick enough) SSA Icon 15D2 + Sundown SAZ-1000D Combo: $579 box:$135 total:$714 SSA Icon 15D2:$295(free box if purchased from audibel customs)(before Sept 30.) SAE-1200D-$260-$280(depending on what month I pay the presale) total:$555-$575 If i make the deal, i might ask if i can just come pick up the box. Its about 45 minutes away

Summer sale will be extended
How much does an SSA Icon 15 cost from you? Also can you build a box that will fit the sub right but also fit in the trunk of an 05 Camry without putting the seats down? The price of the sub woofer does not change, what you are getting is a very well built box for free! yeah. After i posted it , i found his SSa price sheet. Same low price as the SSA store

btw, I've only been on here for a few days and I've stumbled across pics of your boxes. WOW. I'm amazed at the quality you are putting out at any price(much less the low prices you have). Plus, LOuisiana FTW.

great prices! I have a Z15 on the way now. Thinking about the 1200 also cause Jacob is getting nice with these prices. That could leave you even more money to spare. Either way you won't be dissapointed. That sounds killer. I just hope they are still there in a month or 2 when I have the cash. I get my first paycheck from the new job next Wednesday. Still gotta buy my new head unit before i upgrade my sub situation

no worries. besides, that package with the icon and the saz-1000d is looking pretty tasty. I'll probably end up purchasing from the SSA store, anyway.(so you guys will get my cash regardless, lol)
