How you build it is going to be determined by your organization(s), whether or not you want to compete with a national org, or stick with a local one. Because what works well in one won't always transfer over to the other...I'd find out first if you have the right equipment to be competitive in the organization you want to be part of. Because you might find that you get bumped into a higher class because of your amp, or cone area, etc.

Thank you for your response...

i plan on trying to be @ every event in the area

i was desiging a box that would be Usaci Legal, but im unsure as to the line...is it the rear window line,

or the bottom of side windows near the b pillers ???

was going to do 2 15" fireing forward and port up / slot flared, or reuse my twin 6" presition ports flared

8cf gross. @ 30.5Hz

do you have any suggestions, i am oppen to addvise and suggestions

i still have access to 2 15" SoundStream T4 dual 1ohm subs

and 2 15" Pap WMD-Spl subs

Have you thought of running just a single 15" ? Not hard to get loud in a truck cab :)

what do you suggest ?

i have 2 - 6" flared ports

i am using a single 15" in a box ported about 32Hz now and it gets pretty low... but its a slot port, box is 5.25cf

FG resin internal

How much port area now ? if your going for all out highest numbers you can hit , I doubt it's gonna be a low frequency. Might want to tune a little higher , unless busting out a 160 at 20hz is what your after. :)

  • Author

accually i was thinking of building a fartboxx with a singel 15" as you suggested like the CRX boxx but need addvice.

do you think 2.25cf is to small w/ flared ports outside the boxx ???

how do i go about telling whay the freq will be as there 6" each... i have 2 of em.

Edited by Lord Baccus

6" diameter or 6" in length ? 2.25cuft sounds small for a 15" . I'm not familiar with the pap products . My single experience with them was watching the smoke from the coils billow out of the ports at the 12" test session :)

As for tuning , there are a few port length calculators on the net . I don't have any links on my work pc . I'll see if I can dig some up when I get home tonight :)

Cool :)

the flares are 6" diamiter. i can add pvc to make it any length i need :slayer:

as for Pap they were nice and shipped me a few subs, the 1 i have in the truck is the 2006' MOAB and im running it @ 2ohm daily 3000k, it hets a lil warm but havent had a problem, does much better @ low freq than higher.. i tried it @ 45Hz but it was muddy so i extended the port to lower the freq to about 32hz ish... did the hair trick yesterday :) 2 guys from the mecanic shop looked in the window and there hair was waffelling... (Tego - Los Mata )

here is the T/S for the pair of Wmd-Spl subs i had them make for me

Fs = 34 Hz

Qms = 7.2

Vas = 3.6 cu.ft

Cms = 0.00967 in/lb

Mms = 13.99 oz

Rms = 25.95 lb/s

Xmax = 1.5 in

Xmech = 1.5 in

P-Dia = 15 in

Sd = 176.7 sq.in

P-Vd = 0.153 cu.ft

Qes = 0.97

Re = 4 ohms

Z = 4.8 ohms

BL = 4.203 lb/A

Pe = 3000 watts

Qts = 0.86

no = 0.398 %

1-W SPL = 88.15 dB

2.83-V SPL = 91 dB

the cone is honeycomb/poly with a cavlar coating,

does not take as much power ! but i requested it that way as i was tired of dealling with generic off the shelf stuff with heavy cones & power hungry motors...i figured a sub that will do 1000rms with a lighter/stiffer cone might work better, and i had them do the coils @ dual 2ohm so i could take addvantage of the Massive amp setup

1ohm per side or 2ohm bridged...and get the rated power out of the amp

and thank you for helping me :)

i dont know much but im trying

Well if your going to compete in spl . IT really doesn't matter if the sub sounds like to frogs pucking . Just how loud it is :)

If you are going to do USACI...why not do Street Beat.

So you can have a low tuned wall that is built to play music.

You honestly do not have the gear + Money+ Drive + power (alt + amps + batts) to really show force in core SPL.

At least in Streat Beat you can ride loud and clear and not have to change anything.

grow some ya-ya's and get 4 of the "same" 15's and do a wall......a real one......one with boom-dust in it.

i did a sweep @ the last comp with the new WMD-SPL subs

boxx was 7.7cf

port freq: was 48hz but i did not notice 1 of the flared ports had falled into the boxx due to my not using the right tape and only got a 147.3db

so was not conclusive... :(

have not metered the 5.25cf boxx slot port, with the MOAB in it as i was only lisenning to music in it :)

Edited by Lord Baccus

try doin a flared slot port with a mass amount of port area. i'd say for 2 15's maybe 7 cubes total and about 150-200 sq inches of port flared tuned to 40 hz or so. it won't sound great on music, but if you play something with a higher bass line (think prodigy's smack my bitch up) you should be able to put up some decent numbers with music.

what subs should i try and runn with ?

i was going to order another set of the PAP Wmds unless you have something else in mind...

i like the way the Fi subs look but havent seen any in person.

my first attempt @ a wall was just a real big boxx

14cf @ 54Hz

P1010304.jpg

P1010305.jpg

i had 4 Soundstream T4 15" but got mad @ SS and sold off 3 of them

P1010240.jpg

i can easylly mod the box to street beat

i built a drop in port that holds in place with t-nuts & bolts

Ya i noticed it was just a box....so don't call it a wall or mini wall as you called it anymore.

If it does not go from side to side and up and down and make an actual wall...do not call it a wall anymore...The counter flanges on a wall is what keeps pressure forward of the subs instead of letting the air build up and move in behind and besides the enclosure...make a mental note of that.

You got so much room....That box looks like hell...geez...

Did you buy the pierce subs? Or are they giving them to you?

If they are giving them to you....get two or four more...total of 6 would be nice...do a wall of 6 subs.....wanna get nasty?....by gosh we can do nasty with 6. You can knock your teeth loose with 4 15's and that much power...you can really rock the bells with 6....but you gotta have nuts. No more half ass building either...if you are lazy...hang it up now......if you ready to work from 4pm till 4am and get up at 7am to start again.......then now is the time to get serious.

Sit down....draw out the maximum dimensions of an enclosure you can build.

LWH...keep the vision in your mind of a rectangle....if the roof of your truck won't allow XX" inches...then keep the width to a dimension it can do.

Then draw out what 2 layers (no less) of mdf will take up for your left right rear and top and bottom...see how much air space you got left....Then figure on your front baffle being no less than 5 layers thick...if you skimp on this...you are fool.

Port has to be no less than 200 sq inches but a little more is not going to kill you. About 275 is your max...250 is pretty good.

Do not screw up the port.....use a box calculator....make it aleast 2 or 3 layers thick....gotta catch phone...bbl

Gonna have to listen to Marshall when it comes to bass racing . I know nuthin bout it . Wasn't around when I was competeing :)

I guess it's good to know that the hooters girls don't get any better looking the farther south you go :)

BassRacing was a natural step sideways for me.

My truck was build for MECA Reality and if they hadn't gotten all gay with the rules...i'd still be in it.(it was a perfect format before the fuse rules)...the only difference was i had to shift the port to the other side of the truck and get AN INSANE AMOUNT OF POWER AND BATTERY UPGRADES. Omg...

I was tearing the buildings down with 1000w, four Tempests and three batteries.

To step to bassrace...I basically just had to make the same thing but make it stronger than before....moving up to RE SX's and then MT's...finally rested with SE's and i liked the SE's better honestly but probably would have done better with SX's in the long run, two Collossus and then 20.1's (20.1's waaaaay better) and having to bank Kinetic 2400s and then switch to five G31's ....omg the truck was heavy lol...

It would make you stupid if you sat in there too long...the amount of force the truck could generate was unreal. None of the sponsors were ever disappointed when they got in the truck.

Most of the competitors that got in it wanted right back out...but would not admit it till later lol.

Hell even Huggie wanted out....he told me days later he was in pain but didn't want to look like a punk.

20.1 rock btw....

if you can feed them....holy crap...

I had no idea...i had a bank of 2400s in the S10

with about 18 inches of power cable going right to the source.

Ran kinda hot...about 16v (don't do that)...snapped the fuses....

one 250amp waffer fuse on each amp...both popped....

If you know anything about amperage and voltage...you know thats a hell of a lot of current at 16v.

It was just friggin unbearable in the cab of that truck too.

I had to buy two 300 amp fuses to finish the show...they did not pop the 300 amp fuses...but omg was it wangin... But the MT's hated me...the SX's were much louder for music. By over 2db.

The MT's are built for war....

Drop in to Drop in....the SX's were louder for music with that amount of power.

With more power than that...the SX's would have to hand the torch to the mighty MT or just self destruct.

I'm rambling.........i gotta do some work...holla.

Yeah nick , and Chad have mentioned your truck before . Think I only did one Meca show in South Carolina , most of the shows I did were slap . with a few usaci thrown in cause they were within a weekend drive :)
