Im reading everyone on here has their Mag d2 in a sealed box. Whats the deal? Are they a lot better in sealed vs. ported?

I was sealed and now im ported... I prefer ported!

Why, in your case do you prefer ported over sealed?

The Hammer

Well, I went from a bigger sealed box around 1.8 cu ft to a 2.2ish at 32hz box...

Well, got louder... Seemed to be more crisp and punchy... With the sealed box in my car it was loud but ported seemed to be louder and more accurate..It still sounded great in the sealed, but it really shines in ported with the higher power IMO.. But honestly, This is the first ported box I have heard other than with something like an L7... so maybe I just prefer the sound of ported boxes but did not know it up until this point :)

It still sounded great in the sealed, but it really shines in ported with the higher power IMO..

So you thought it got louder when you

1) put it in a ported box and

2) gave it more power?

Or was it the same power from sealed to ported?

I like snappy accurate sub frequency action, so I'm curious.

The Hammer

It improved when sealed to ported on 400 watts in the new box.. then the new amp really set it off....
