Posted August 15, 200718 yr Ok, so here is my situation. My current set up isn't satisfying enough for me. I currently have AMP: PPI PCX2200 800WATTS RMS BRIDGEDBOX: PORTED BOX BUILT TO JL DESIGN CP112G-W1v2 (H 15.25 in. x W 20.50 in. x D 15.00 in.) so roughly i think i have around 2.5 cubic feet of volumeSUB: 12" KICKER CVR 400WATTS RMSCAR: 1997 BMW 318IS WITH FOLDED DOWN SEATSGOAL: Good LSQ that'll kick some street ArsSub that I'm considering to upgrade to: All single 12'' I want to see which is the best/loudest LSQ sub out of these since i've heard none of them and have read good things about most of them i've gotten myself rather confused. price on sub is not a questions will be working with the amp and box i already have. RE SXFI QSI Magd2ID MaxxDD2500Mach5 MAW if they do have a 12''CVX
August 15, 200718 yr Your caps lock isn't satisfying to me.Out of your list, there are only 2 you should be serious about the Si Mag and the Q. Currently it isn't possible to buy a Mag so that leaves the Q.
August 15, 200718 yr Loud SQ has very, very little to do with the substage...because it's a lot harder to get your front stage up to the level where it needs to be.It sounds like you're talking about SPL for rap, which is different (especially considering you made no mention of anything other than subwoofers). If you're working with the box you already have...I wouldn't bother. The enclosure is where I'd start to make changes.
August 15, 200718 yr Ya I hear ya on the CVR 12. It doesnt have much Xmass and basically its not a loud sub, but for SQ in a sealed enclosure it works nicely and the price is cheap.
August 15, 200718 yr You need to address Jim's comments first. You are asking for SQ on one hand and then completely not on the other. What is it, do you want a loud sub or one that blends with your front stage.
August 15, 200718 yr Well in the box design realm they are at the opposite extremes. You don't really choose between them but where in between, but there is a direct trade off.You do need a different box no matter what you do.
August 15, 200718 yr Author i'm looking for more spl than sq then... I don't understand why i need a new box... haha i spent like a bill on that box
August 15, 200718 yr Author found an SI mag on ebay for 365 worth it? would i still have to toss my box for a different kind? If i do then what kind of box do i need?
August 15, 200718 yr The box has to match the sub, I don't care if you paid 10G's for it the wrong box will make anything sound like crap. Major crap. I would imagine most of your problem is the box in the first place.
August 15, 200718 yr Author so for the si magd2 i'm looking it it'll require me to have a 2ft^3 box ported.
August 15, 200718 yr You can get by with the 2.5 on the Mag. Many people are running them in 2.5, BUT for OPTIMAL results, go with what Nick suggests on the site.
August 15, 200718 yr Ya I hear ya on the CVR 12. It doesnt have much Xmass and basically its not a loud sub, but for SQ in a sealed enclosure it works nicely and the price is cheap.I've heard plenty of stinking loud Comp VRs. Don't buy into all this Xmax talk. Xmax tells you nothing about a drivers capability. God, when are people going to get over this?
August 16, 200718 yr So can the SI mag d2 out hit a RE SX?*cringes*Well, at least we know where you stand on the SQ/SPL thing. That's totally box dependent. I've seen both Mags and SX's do well in pure SPL installs, one may work better for your specific situation but that's something you'll have to see for yourself.
August 16, 200718 yr So can the SI mag d2 out hit a RE SX?The Mag D2 is the end-all-be-all of subwoofers. That's my opinion and I will stick to it for life.

I have comp a set of VR's that are not that loud. before you go there they are in the optimum enclosure and supplied with as much clean power as they can handle.
August 16, 200718 yr Optimum enclosure as recommended by Kicker or optimum enclosure found by trying many different enclosures and a Termlab?
