Does anyone have a list of good manufacturers that produce an XBL^2 driver?

Specifically looking for Subwoofers, but mids and midbasses interest me too.

I've found one manu, but I can't find them again. Their prices were good, but I wonder about quality.

1. www.creativesound.ca (also sold through www.acoustic-visions.com) - Most notably the FR125 (a 4.5" full range design), WR125 (the original wide range version of the FR), and the SDX15 (great value; in terms of performance, falls between the Brahma and the Tumult but costs way less). Bob Reimer will also be offering a 7" driver similar to the Extremis (named the SDX7, I believe).

2. www.hempacoustics.com - I don't believe any of their products currently employ XBL^2 and it is quite possible there might not be any due to the fallout between Adire and Hemp, but they have long been publishing that they will be using XBL^2 in their products. Maybe the site needs a bit of an update.

3. www.diycable.com - Sold under the Exodus Audio brand. Kevin Haskins has had the XJ line (also sold through acoustic-visions) and intends to offer a 6.5" driver that should be better for 2 ways than the Extremis was, but with all of the low bass performance. There should also be some other subs in the not-too-distant future.

4. www.gr-research.com - A slightly smaller company I'm not as familiar with. They offer a 130X and 165X (130mm and 165mm in diameter with XBL^2 motors) at very good prices. John Krukte from Zaph Audio reviewed the 165X and seemed to find it acceptable.

There have been many other companies that have offered XBL^2 at one point or another, including Ascendant Audio and Resonant Engineering, but the above list is of those manufacturers that I know for a fact use the design currently. Dan Wiggins has mentioned many times that there are other companies who utilize XBL^2 that he cannot speak of due to an NDA. How many companies that is, I'm not sure, but he has mentioned that you can go to Circuit City and pick up something with XBL^2 in it.

that sdx15 looks like a sweet subwoofer. I wish they made 18's.

Devildriver pretty much nailed it but I wanted to add that there will be a 12" version of the SDX as well as a 10" in the future. The 12" will come before the 10 and isnt too far out. The build quality of the SDX as well as the Exodus drivers is top notch too.

The only midbass with the XBL^2 I'm aware of is the Mpyre 65M. Creative Sounds stocks them.

An NDA is a Non-Disclosure Agreement. It's quite typical that an OEM agrees to not discuss any specifics of their agreement with their clients.

As for what Circuit City brands have XBL^2, I couldn't tell you, and I'm not totally sure how factual that is. If you have a few thousand dollars, let's go down there together and we'll cut some motors open.

No spare thousand dollars here, so I can't help you there, but speaking of XBL^2, I just read your "Unbiased Comparison of Linear BL Technologies". Good chit, and I'm still trying to absorb all that info. XBL^2 aka Split Gap, seems to kick ass in everything but the subwoofer. But I need to reread that to fully understand it. BTW, you may want to check on that thread in the next week or so, I have a few questions I want to ask in there, mostly about top plate (I can't picture that)
