I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to cut the holes for the speaker, the terminal on the side and also some sanding to smooth the edges. If someone could point me in the direction of some affordable drill attachments and sanders to finish this job, that would be awesome!

Thanks,

Mo

As far as cutting holes for speakers/terminals, nothing beats the Jasper jig with a plunge router. You can get the jig from Parts Express.

I don't use terminal cups... some bolts, washers & nuts work fine.

Router is one of the most important woodworking tools... I have two, a plunge & a fixed base, coupled with the Jasper Jig = perfectly rounded corners & circular circles every time.

Personally, I like the looks & functionality of the Dayton binding posts best as far as my terminals go. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...number=091-1246 1/4" holes and you're done.

As for the speaker cut outs, as stated above, you can't beat a Jasper Jig & plunge router! Of course, you can always brush up on your jig saw skills, but the JJ & router gives you so many more options and is so much cleaner! Stuff like flush-mounting can be accomplished going the router method. You can also make your edges any way you like with a router. A good 1/4" or 1/2" roundover bit does wonders!

I usually just drill a hole for a speaker wire to fit through with a little effort. then seal it on the inside with caulk. Makes life a little simpler.

And a jasper jig is the way to go, with a plunge router. I'm too cheap to buy them though, so I take my time and use an orbital jig. Holes comes out pretty darn good. Definitely not for the impatient though.
