im planning on building a spl box for my 12" BL and would like some input from people with experience on a basic design to work around. for an spl box, i know people sometimes use a smaller box with more port area. my daily box is at 1.8ft^3 tuned to 33 with 26.5in of port area. approx how much port area would be ideal for this sub in say, a 1.5 cu ft box? im powering it with a hifonics bx1606d @ 1ohm and its in a 97 4runner, so anyone have ideas on tuning freq also?

1.5 ft^3 i would do roughly 18 ft^2 of port area

But i don't think it's a good idea to go so small with the BL it will start to become rather peaky in response..

For SPL i would just take your current enclosure with its 1.8 ft^3 and tune higher for better SPL numbers...

I would do roughly 27 ft^2 of port area and tune around 40hz
