Posted September 18, 200717 yr What are your guys methods for getting two 8 gauge wires into the subs push pin things? Thanks.
September 18, 200717 yr Cut the wire down to fit...a wire's ampacity is based on length as well as cross section...it's not like you're pushing enough current through it to make a difference over an inch of thinner wire.
September 18, 200717 yr Author Meh don't wanna trim that much though. That is like half off each wire.
September 18, 200717 yr I solder the ends and grind it down to fit into the terminal. I do this for all of my wire terminations. I hope this helps. Z
September 18, 200717 yr How long are the wires from your amp to your drivers? 8 gauge speaker wire is complete overkill unless you are running an insane amount of power or have a very long run. 12 would probably work just as well without having to cut it.

I am in this situation.
September 18, 200717 yr not the best but the easiest solution if you have to have 8 guage http://www.cardomain.com/item/STISGPINS8
September 18, 200717 yr Five feet is not a long run of speaker wire.105 feet, maybe. There are a lot of voltage drop calculators out there for wire sizing, do the research...
September 18, 200717 yr Meh don't wanna trim that much though. That is like half off each wire. Then use a smaller wire that is actually appropriate for the application. 8 ga for that is a complete waste. Since it sounds like you already have it, I suggest spinning a cigar trimmer around it with nearly no pressure to reduce the size of the wire you currently have. Actually hell, I take that back just run 12ga it will make more sense across the board.
