Posted September 19, 200717 yr First let me start by saying...im only 16 and this will be going in my first car! I was super confused on what sub setup to go with...so i will be going with a single 12 ported tuned to 30hz...which is pretty low in my opinion. The two subs i have in mind are the SSA Icon and the FI Q. The Q box would be 2.5 cu ft. net, the ICON box would be 2.25 cu ft. net. I feel as though these subs will give me excelent SQ with an ability to jus flat out wang from time to time.My car is a 1977 Buick Regal. As of right now the front doors have severe leakage problems...especially the front passenger door. Because of this problem...i was thinking about running a rear fill. Probably a 6.5 component set...maybe a GOOD set of coaxials because of a lower budget. I probably could fabricate some custom kick pannels for the fronts and mount the tweeter in the dash or maybe right behind the front seat in the upper quarter, where the side interior lights are, or something like that. I have some sets on mind like these...componenthttp://sonicelectronix.com/item_5144_Clif+...gns+PX650C.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9319_Infin...nce+6020CS.html http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9115_Kenwo...KFC-X1710P.htmlhttp://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17540http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=3059http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=5207http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseac...Product_ID=2950coaxialshttp://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14525http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=11401http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17764http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=15357http://sonicelectronix.com/item_5150_--+CR...gns+QX6550.htmlI also plan to get a good dampener...like some RAAMATI was thinking of maybe running the componets/coaxials off of the head units power...but probably an amp a 2 channel like thesehttp://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17890http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17038http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=11692http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14320http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16325and a sub amp like...http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16338http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=16367http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=17847http://sonicelectronix.com/item_9391_Clif+...+CD10.1DLX.htmlhttp://sonicelectronix.com/item_7369_Power...SA+1000.1D.htmlhttp://sonicelectronix.com/item_8731_Light...S4.1000.1D.htmli know its alot of info but am i going in the right direction?
September 19, 200717 yr For an SQ set up, ditch the rears, put all of that money into the front stage, definitely amp the front stage, and deaden well.
September 19, 200717 yr I agree with acidburn 100%. In particular if you are budget limited at all rears are completely stupid. Also do remember that if SQ is truly your goal you will have some installation work ahead of you. Lots of deadening, baffles, sealing off holes in the doors. It isn't hard, but it is time consuming and also really, really, really worth it.I must also say that I didn't click on all the links, but would have read through a list of components...
September 19, 200717 yr Author only reason i suggested the rear fill is becuase my doors have leakage problems, but i may be able to fabricate some custom kick pannels.... i will post pics later
September 19, 200717 yr If it leaks to outside that is actually a benefit, the inside leaks are easy to fix with some material and deadening. Either way you are WAY better off without anything in the rear. Are you going to list the components you are looking at?
September 21, 200717 yr Author Cmon...why do you have to clown my english. If you actually knew me...you'd know i dont really talk like that...but no big deal.Ok I will go ahead and list the componentsClif Designs PX650C Infinity Reference 6020CS Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X1710PPhoenix Gold RSd65csCDT Audio KA-61 - CDT Audio Kama K-SeriesCDT Audio CL-S60A - CDT Audio Classic Edited September 21, 200717 yr by kingsham
September 21, 200717 yr If you merge your monies and scrap the rears, you can get some really nice components instead of those.for instance, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7537_P...TS-C720PRS.html
September 21, 200717 yr i also recommend the above components, or maybe some rainbow slc's or some rainbow cmx
