Posted September 28, 200717 yr Hi. I am new here, and somewhat new to the whole car audio thing. I just got a 2001 Pontiac Gand AM GT, and was wondering what kind of speakers (not subwoofers) would fit and sound nice in it. There is just one blown speaker (rear right), and I need it fixed soon so I can start installing my system. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
September 28, 200717 yr i think it wold be best to replace all your factory speakers the kind depends on the budget i heard the alpine type R components were pretty nice let us know your budget and im sure you will have plenty to choose from
September 28, 200717 yr Author Yeah, I am going to replace all of the speakers. My budget can only be up to $200 because I am also in need of my Kicker CVR12s. Also, what size speakers would be good? Edited September 28, 200717 yr by Room_Nine
September 28, 200717 yr i heard the alpine type R components were pretty niceThey really aren't.Crutchfield tells me you have 4x6 front door openings. I would make some creative spacers & try and fit 6.5" components.Budget?
September 29, 200717 yr I have a 2000 Gand AM GT and would recomend you do 5.25" in the doors (6.5's wont fit unless you cut some metal) and you have 6x9s in the rear. I would search the forums for a 4 channel amp, anything is better than deck power.
September 29, 200717 yr You don't need rears and perhaps should look at subs other than those Kickers. What exactly are your expectations and total budget?
October 1, 200717 yr Author You don't need rears and perhaps should look at subs other than those Kickers. What exactly are your expectations and total budget? Hey. Thanks for the help. But what do you mean I don't need rears? Would a system work just as good if all the audio was brought up to the front only? And I just chose Kicker because I heard they are of nice quality. I already have a Kicker ZX750.1 Amp and I am getting two Kicker CVR15s for $150 tomarrow.
October 1, 200717 yr You need to worry about a whole system not just pieces at a time. Depending on your desires those Kickers might not at all be a good choice for your system and yes I mean NO rears. They do nothing positive at all and just waste your budget.
October 1, 200717 yr Author I have an amp and I am getting the subs tomarrow. That should be all I need...correct? I only asked about speakers because I wasn't sure if the system would sound as good if everything was brought up to the front? The amp should still increase loudness and I should still be able to hear the 15s just fine without the rear speakers going?

What amp, what sub coil configuration, what sort & size of box? Those subs might suck ass for what you want to do and for what amp you have but unless you tell us what that is we surely can't help. What are your fabrication/installation skills? One thing is for sure out of all of this and that is rear speakers are NOT necessary at all and won't help chit. Spend your money on the fronts and an amplifier. Don't decrease your budget since you are buying less, just spend it smarter.
October 2, 200717 yr Author Ok. So I went to pick up the 15s yesterday...and they wouldn't even fit in my trunk! I had to stick with the two CVR 12s. However, since I have the Monsoon Stereo System, I went ahead and tried to hook everything up through the trunk by means by a 6x9 inverter/diverter (I a not quite sure which one it was). But that ended up being a dud. So now I must wait until Friday before I can actually hear my system.
