I'm looking to do a bit of an expirement. My HT system is a "people's choice" ORB AUDIO setup. I have two orbs (two 4' orbs) for all four channels. Anyway, The orbs have no real midbass. I have no connection between my sub and the orbs. I'm looking for a good 280hz-60hz. The best crossover point for these are around 120hz as per manufacture.

I'm wanting to build a midbass enclosure to add to this setup. Not sure if things will work but I'm always willing to try. I don't want to spend too much at this point, probably around $30-40 for the mids and a simple crossover design to go along. I know I may be missing some info for some, so let me know what questions you have for me. Thanks. :drink40:

Crossover is going to cost you x2 the cost of the drivers... reason? The large inductors needed.

I know this. I really like what ORB has done with this little 4" driver. It's just missing a bit of that midbass to make it a better system in my opinion. This system is eventually going into my computer and private studio room. I just want to try a little project with these things and see what comes of it.

One option would be to build an enclosure so that you achieve a natural roll off at 60Hz. That way you won't have to invest in expensive caps for highpass. You can then concentrate on a single inductor-resistor combo for the high end.

Another option (more trickier) would be to build a bandpass box to achieve a natural roll off at both ends. Then you won't have to worry about buying crossover parts.

Small and "cute" enclosures aren't very conducive to solid midbass.

Get ready for larger enclosures...
