i have been trying to decide between these for a while. since i'm new here i thought i'd see what you guys perfer.

1)pioneer avic d3 - almost bought this one. i like pioneer, love how it looks, don't care about the single slot since i don't care about nav. the 2v preout thing killed it though.

2)eclipe avn5510 - the only thing that keeps me from buying this is thinking i can get something just as good for cheaper.

3)jvc kw-avx800 - the underdog. features look great, don't care about nav, the price is right. but its a jvc...

thoughts/suggestions?

I love Eclipse my self. I have used the other brands you mentioned and I really like the reliability and features of the Eclipse. Have an awesome day. Z

Personally, I like Alpine screens, but for the sole reason of being able to control the H701.

the 2v preout thing killed it though.

1. Do you know you have an inducted noise issue in your install that higher voltage preouts fixed?

2. You could always get a line driver in that case...

no, in fact i only barely know what you're talking about. the install will be from scratch, i just want to make sure i don't buy anything that i won't like.

something i would like to add is i want the hu to be active capable (which i also don't fully understand). i'll probably start out using the passive crossovers, but i want all possibilities to be open.

2V preouts in and of themselves aren't bad, if you don't have noise problems going from 2V to 8V won't be a big improvement. I think a lot of people get high-preout voltage boners for no reason.

Not only would the Alpine/H701 combo be active capable, it'd give you more flexibilily than you can imagine right now :)

I don't know if the Pio/Eclipse models offer that kind of crossover flexibility.

i want a double din with monitor for sure though.

*edit* i looked at H701 a lil closer and it does look intersting. alpine doesn't say that you can control it with the IVA-W205 but does anyone know that you can?
