is it neccesary to upgrade my entire electrical system to run a 3000 watt amp in a cobalt? I have some people telling me I need to upgrade my alternator battery and every wire under the hood. i've ran more power than 3000 watts with a complete stock setup before with no problems. What do you guys think? I can understand the alt and battery upgrade that's a given...

yes youll need either an alternator or a couple batteries

He'll need both actually.

At least a 200A alternator and perhaps a battery about the size of the Kinetik HC1800.

yea...as for "running" a 3000 watt. The main thing is that there's a difference between having the amp turn on

and having the amp put out its power without killing your electrical system.

that amp will put some serious strain on your electrical. Big 3, alt, batt like was posted before.

As a first step, the wires are more important than either; however, you are attempting to pull more power than that can support in which case getting an alternator and a better battery is necessary as well
