November 2, 200717 yr $150 for a set of decent components is totally doable. What will you be powering them with?
November 2, 200717 yr Author this amp right here http://www.carsound.com/articles/publish/article_268.shtmlmy brother had a whole setup in his car then he gave his car to me with polk audio speakers i belive dont know what specific brand and a 10w1v2-4 jl subwoofer powered by that ampedit: i belive these are the components in the car i have right now http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-POLK-MMC6500-6-1-2...1QQcmdZViewItem Edited November 2, 200717 yr by SEC
November 2, 200717 yr Here are a few from SonicElectronix that fit within your price range.I've heard all three and they're all good passive sets. They won't blow away anybody remotely concerned with SQ, but they still will sound good for a ground pounder system. You may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere, so make sure to shop around.Pioneer TS-C160RMemphis 15-MSYNC6Alpine SPR-17S
November 3, 200717 yr Author alright cool cool i really like those alpines they will do good with that amp?
November 5, 200717 yr Author will those alpines get alot louder then the polk audio ones that i have in my car currently?also any other reccomendations? Edited November 5, 200717 yr by SEC
November 5, 200717 yr Nope, the capability of getting louder is going to be unlocked in your install and setup and not by swapping out drivers. They should be pretty comparable.
November 5, 200717 yr Author ya ill probably getting them installed professionally and not by me by either this placehttp://www.a-41.com/or this place u think they seem pretty legit?http://www.sound-sensations.com/u think they seem pretty legit?
November 5, 200717 yr Author ya im just new to this and dont feel confident enough never had any experience with components speakers but i can do the sub and amp combindation
November 5, 200717 yr ya im just new to this and dont feel confident enough never had any experience with components speakers but i can do the sub and amp combindationComponents are much easier to do decent IMHO.To perfect.. well that's not your goal... but Beleive me I'm a moron and I can figure out some component installs. Maybe you could ask a friend who has done it before for help or some of the guys on this board. They canj walk you through it.You will get a better results in the end if you are open to learn and DIY. If the speakers are the same size it wouldn't take more than an hour at most and then you would know what is going on.Good luck either way. Shops scare me personaly, I don't think any are reputable at least in my area currently unless they are verry verry low key and I have never heard of them.
November 5, 200717 yr As much as I hate CarAudio.com, there's a pretty decent writeup there in the Speakers subsection, titled "Sound Deadening and You"...that goes over the basics on installing speakers properly. It's not just as simple as slapping them into compatible holes, but it's not out of reach for a beginning DIYer either...you can handle this.
November 5, 200717 yr ya im just new to this and dont feel confident enough never had any experience with components speakers but i can do the sub and amp combindationYea components are pretty easy. and the only way you are going to get any better at any installs is trial and error. You will never get any better and still not know what you are doing if you don,t at least attempt it.
November 6, 200717 yr Author alright alright ill give it a try ill probably get these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8553_Alpine+SPR-17S.htmlwould those fit in the doors good? they do seem kinda big
