I'm replacing a friends factory front door speakers and running all after market stuff minus the H/U. Is it possible for me to use a few feet of the factory speaker wire and them solder some 14ga wire to run to the aftermarket amps. I know this sounds really crappy, but this SUV (Ford Edge) is a real sh&t when it comes to going from the door into the cab.

yep, it'll work. factory speaker wire is plenty unless you plan on huge power for the doors.

if you're replacing the h/u as well, and depending upon where the amp is, you could just run the speaker wire from the amp to the h/u harness. we did that alot at the shop i worked for, and it's how my silverado is done.
