November 22, 200717 yr Im actually looking at the neo version of those please tell me if you like em.
November 22, 200717 yr Boston pro's arent too bad i enjoy the sound of those for around this budgetFocal has a decent set for 200 the rf powers are loud, but sound hollowPheonix gold has a good budget set i think it was the RSd65csOz and MB quart are supposed to have a decent set, never heard em thoughIf you were looking for alternatives theres a few i still wanna hear cdt, diamond, and crystals budget lines
November 22, 200717 yr Passive sets under $200, for the most part, scare me.Agreed.If you like midbass, you won't like the CDT's.
November 22, 200717 yr i have the old cdt ef-61 carbon fiber set... i paid 220 shipped... i was fairly impressed... good amount of midbass, my only complaint was that the highs seemed a little too soft even for silk tweeters, and the mounting depth, beefy little guys. overall i thought i got a pretty good deal for the price i liked them alot better then anything i heard at the local shops for 220... im sure u can find a nib EF-61CF set on ebay for what ur looking for... the newer stuff from cdt have not impressed me at all
November 22, 200717 yr I just haven't been really impressed with anything I've heard in passives under that price. CDT's are...blah. Not enough midbass for me and lackluster tweets. Orion P6.2's were decent in the midbass, nothing special, but had tweets that would take your ears off from ten feet away. Same with MBQ's. And Focals are a love/hate thing, there's no middle ground. Boston Pros require so much amplifier power that they negate the "budget" in the first place Madisound used to have a sub-$200 passive set, but I don't know if they still offer it anymore. When you can get a pair of Vifa or Seas paper cone 6.5's and silk domes for well under $200, bi-amping really kicks passives in the ass in this price range, it's not even fair.
November 22, 200717 yr Author what exactly are you looking for, just a nice set for 150 or under?yeah basicallyI have two 12" RE SE subs getting 800 watts from a PG RSd 1200.1 and I desperately need something to compliment them because right now I'm hoping the lack of mids and highs is whats making it sound like I have some crap ass subs Edited November 22, 200717 yr by lakaiguy
November 23, 200717 yr turn the gain down? 150 isnt gonna give you a lot of options http://cgi.ebay.com/Polk-Audio-Momo-MMC650...1QQcmdZViewItemi heard these at a local shop b4 but they were asking way more... decent for 140 bucks
