after about 8 months of playin my hifonics Goliath 1600 on a hifonics brutus 2000d, the spider has loosened out.

no ripping it just came off clean.

since the sub was put in the car at lower frequencies a smell was givin off smelling like the newness coming out.

but it has been doin it since.

sub is out waiting to repair.

any theories on the smell?(not burning smell)

and has this happened to anyone else with hifonics products?

when playing your set-up does the smell begin after a few songs with pounding bass? or would it just start smelling after 1 song?

the sub is rated at 1600 but your using the brutus2k on it, even though they probably don't make rated by just a little it could be that your over powering or maybe clipping it lightly enough to cause the coils to heat up and smell after a while of use.

it could be also that you are using this SPL oriented sub for a daily low-end driver which may be adding stress onto the speaker(my theory).
