I was wondering if it would be possible to use the new TB coax and then a large midbass in a tower and power them seperately using the cheap behringer active x-over? I was thinking the Tb coax + dayton rs270 for a 2.1 set up.

If this sounds alrite, what all would i need to get this up and running? Two amplifiers, behringer x-over, reciever, pre amp, etc..?

The tb coax has a built in x-over already, I would just high pass them and run the mids from 50/60 hz to 400 or so... Still would it be better to do a 2-way?

That would still be a 3 way and one that wasn't anywhere near optimized together. For the budget range they are in I also think a simpler 2 way will sound way better. That TB I'd really only be interested in for a simple "full range" small solution...something I hope I never need. ;)

If you haven't ever built any home audio gear, I'd highly recommend building someone else's design the first time around. If they aren't perfect you will learn a lot more altering them than building your own the first time out. Plus it is likely they will work as you can review reviews of them before building. Usually they are designed by people who have listened to lots and lots of drivers as well, which in all reality is always the best way to pick out drivers. I love auditioning new ones.
