Posted December 23, 200717 yr Basicly, Im starting from scratch.Active.I need some good info on which speakers I may need.It will be a 2way.With 6.5/7s and small format tweets.I need a "good" h/u that can go active.Im sorta on a budget, not a tight one, but not anything OVER 1 grand. Cheaper teh better.Lets see what we come up with.
December 23, 200717 yr What does the grand have to cover? Just h/u and speakers? Where are your mounting locations, what skill range are you, what are your listening preferences. What amps are you using....help us help you.
December 23, 200717 yr I'm kinda in the same boat as the Redneck except one aspect of going active i just don't get. Does going, "Active" mean that i will crossover the frequency before the signal gets to my amp or am i still going, "Active" if my amp does the job? I want to go 2-way active as well and also need some advice on which speakers to purchase. I don't have a budget per say, a good, better, best comparison will do. Currently i have a set of Rockford Fosgate Power T162C 6.5" speakers in the doors. But as far as the active components are concerned, I have plenty of space to do whatever I want and am willing to fab up a mount/pod/location for whatever. LSQ is my goal. I listen to everything. The specs on my vehicle and equipment i already own is listed below... Thanks!1998 GMC Savanna cargo vanHU - Sony CDX MP-70 * EQ7 features 7 bands of EQ (+/-10 dB at 62, 157, 396, 1,000, 2,500, 6,300, and 16,000 Hz) * Dynamic Soundstage Organizer (raises the soundstage of lower door-mounted speakers to dash level) * Front, rear, and subwoofer preamp outputs * Built-in high- and low-pass crossovers (selectable 78 or 125 Hz) * CD frequency response 10-20,000 HzJL Audio 300/4 * Fully-variable (50 Hz - 5 kHz), selectable-slope / mode (12 or 24 dB / octave, LP or HP) for each pair of channels * 75 W RMS x 4 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)Sub Stage Kicker KX 1200.1 Amp15" FI Q - 4ft^3 Tuned to 28hzOh ya, one more question... Tweet on Apiller.Amp=Sundown SAX 100.4Peekaz= need help.Tweetz= need help. Small format tho.Deadner=Rammat.H/U=need help.I dont really know my listening perferences. I havent heard a true SQ setup before. I know I like semi bright highs. And alotta of midbass.I was looking at teh Pioneer 720prs, to run active. I dont think teh tweeters are for me tho.So this brings me back to start from scratch.
December 23, 200717 yr So what exactly do you need to buy with the g...What kind of car is it? You gave me general mounting locations, but they aren't specific. Are the pillar mounted tweeters stock? Are you custom aiming...Any home audio speakers you like if you haven't heard car audio ones?

December 23, 200717 yr You should really listen to some things before investing money into your audio. Otherwise it is just a crapshoot. Grab some of your own music and go speaker shopping over the next couple of days and let us know what you liked and didn't. Keep it reasonable and look at speaker pairs in the range of $400-$1200 or so as the differences won't be so subtle.Again the budget you have defined is for exactly what?I'd still like to see the mounting locations as I have never been in a 2000 Accord...
