Really entry level Knu or other decent manufacturers are fine. There is NO sonic difference between any well built cables.

If your having noise issues, perhaps because you have your RCA's running parallel to your power wires, it would be wise to pick up some shielded RCA's.

Noise cannot be induced from a DC source to an AC one... not possible. Especially such a low voltage one as in a vehicle.

If that was the case, you would have a huge problem in a vehicle, since the whole damn thing is the ground plane (i.e. voltage flowing over it to the negative battery terminal).

Just pick the cheapest of the 4.

I'm using Stinger Expert series from 2005. They have great locking connecters and a thick jacket along with a molded Y. I love em.

Really? What else could induce noise through RCA's? My first setup had non shielded RCA's next to the power cord, and when I went to shielded the noise went away.

The only thing that can induce noise is a bad ground somewhere in the signal chain, or a poor ground plane on the amplifier or headunit. If you have a bad noise caused by RCAs, it is because there is a break in the wire, or poorly constructed connector.

So chitty wire/connecters was most likely the problem then? Gotta love this hobby...learn things everyday.

I was having just shy of a jet engine noise from my fronts and doors and simply went behind the HU and soldered a little 16 ga wire (probably could've simply taped it) and grounded it to the back (side) of the HU.....! Wholly COW it was like a difference of Night and Day! It was like I just got a new muffler... ya know that all quite-no noise sound that feels/sounds allll-most as good as sex... I mean no noize boyz! And I owe it all to ... Geeze, I can't remeber... Wait yes...yes of course... Greg @ USAmps. I had first grounded the RCA's in the trunk but only got rid of say 75-80%. That's becasue it (the annoying noise) needs to be removed at the origin. At least that was what I read after the fact. And grounding it in the trunk, could've been too close to something else (which doesn't make so much sense.. being that all ground is common). But I read somewhere that in order for that fix to work completely it has to be grounded up at the point of origin (the HU). FYI I have aPioneer HU which is another thing I recently have learned that their RCA out's suck (on some of their stuff, or just don't work well some of USAmps' Stuff, one of the two or a little of both).

As far as which RCA's to go with I am getting a headache looking 'round and trying to decide. I think the HPM 3 stinger joints and merely for asthetics... with two AX USAmps making a total chrome look in the rig.. like to keep it consistant and get the HPM 3's by stinger... silver/chrome/aluminum... gold clashes with silver.

knukonceptz!!! great for the money and awesome customer service. more really so on their power wire but i have the karma RCAs on my sub amp and the krystal RCAs on my speaker amp. havent finished installing, but they look serious... not cheap

we are over stocked on stinger RCA's(expert & bullite series). If you're buying 3 or more sets, i'll cut you a great deal on them. I think we'll do a blow out sale on these soon.

THAT WAS MY PROB TIL ABOUT 6 HOURS AGO!! But mine was a bit different- y cables made the noise... took em out and its gravy now. BUT Id like to do like you and make a ground next to the HU. What wire exactly did you ground mhyde71?

All I did simply enough.. was I soldered a 16ga wire to the negative (outer shield/sleve) of the rca and ran it to the HU and screwed it to the back (actually side) of the HU of the Pioneer AVIC-Z1. I couldn't find a (the) grounding post on the back directly so I just loosened up one of the side mounting screws and grounded it there. On my first attempt, aftre being told about doing this as a resolve, I thought for sure I would be able to do just that but at the other end of the cables and find a female union/coupling to solder the wire to and ground it under the back seat. I had a beatiful grounding post under the back seat (2002 Pathfinder) and then run it to the amp. But to my dismay, that didn't get rid of the noise completely as I mentioned above. I was trying to eliminate having to pull HU out and all of that. But grounding it at the opposite end doesn't get rid of the whatever that noise is from... Guess it's just a bad grounding issue with Pioneer (and possibly other HU's) as I have heard from others from time to time.

As far as which rca cable I grounded to the HU... I can't be sure which one of the 4 channels I used... but it was one of them and it was NOT off of any one of the sub-out's, video in's/out's, etc... Just off one of the 4-channel pre-out's... But what a difference...! I was really surprized/impressed.

Now I know there are some higher-end cables out there (not going to mention any names, as I am boycotting one of them) but there are some cables out there (that are viable for me to purchase) that come with the ground already connected so you dont have to. It's an easy fix... to solder, and probably could be done with electrical tape and a small black cable tie just the same. In fact it might be even a better idea to do so with tape and cable tie as the solder, as I believe, might come undone and have to be redone if falls off. I am not entirely sure how well the solder took to the rca, and/or how long it will continue to be a good connection with vibration, and over the course of time. With a cable tie one could really torque the tie to remain pretty secure there on the rca for however long you would need it to.
