Posted January 11, 200817 yr I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer(s10) I was wonderin if anyone could tell me what size alt. I need I will be runnin around 2400rmsthankx for any help
January 11, 200817 yr the bigger the better. why? cause you'll know you have a stable ass electrical plus, if you ever decide to add more more and subs or such you know you'll have the electrical for it.
January 11, 200817 yr Bigger isn't always better and unless you want to spend some money, it's not worth upgrading. Don't get anything unless you need it. Try it first, if you need to upgrade your electrical system, you'll know. And looking at your sig, it seems you've already decided.

January 11, 200817 yr Author do u think i could be alright with the 200 or should i get the 250, i will have a yellowtop under the hood and maybe 1 or 2 in the back
January 11, 200817 yr I would say the 200a would be fine with one stout battery under the hood for that little power. And even that is still overkill.Even if you had an amplifier that was 100% efficient (which no one does), you would have to be hitting that full 2400w @ 12v to pull a full 200a. I'd guess you'll only realistically need 180a at the most.
January 11, 200817 yr your lights dimming is normal, just get a farad cap and it will ease the flow of current and no more lights will dim

January 11, 200817 yr Author no caps, HO alts/batterys for me the only thing close to a cap I would even think about runnin is a BATCAP
January 12, 200817 yr your lights dimming is normal, just get a farad cap and it will ease the flow of current and no more lights will dimA cap will only properly work with a low enough ESR (and last time I checked there were on a few on the market), and to filter/stabilize the voltage. Help me out he John, I can't find the wording in my head right now.In other words, a cap is pretty much useless if not for a proper electrical system. They're marketed as a band-aid for poor electrical systems, but it's nothing more than a support system to an already healthy one.
January 12, 200817 yr I'm pretty sure ESR only really applies if a bunch of caps are used in a set. Like in an amp.Either way, the fact of the matter is it doesn't hold a large enough charge long enough to help for more than a second when you system needs the power.
