I see that the recommended enclosure is 2.0 ft^3 tuned to 29hz for the 12" D2. I want about 50/50 with sq and spl...so yeah, i want LSQ . What difference would a bigger box (about 3 or 4 cubes) make? What should I tune it to? I will be running 1000w to it @ 1ohm. This is my first car audio system so bare with me here .

With the larger enclosure, your powerhandling will decrease. Just an FYI. I can't comment on the enclosure size cuz I don't play with those puny 12s.

I had the same question on my 15" mag when I only tuned it to 28 hz and I wanted it to be louder but not too dirty. I was told

"Tune it higher from 28 to 35-36 hz, thats ideal or the "sweet spot" between spl and sq. 28 hz is more towards the sq end"

my box is 2.5 cubes after displacement tuned to 30 hz. and i am powering it with a hifonics BX1000D and i think it sounds great. good LSQ in my opinion.
