Posted February 5, 200817 yr Anyone have any expierence with this subwoofer?I've got the T4's but I got this for a temporary setup. Single 12" MOJO on a Sundown 1500d at 1/4 gain and 0/4 bass boost.Played it bout half volume for about 20 minutes and then it started to have a small tapping noise, like a I blew a tinsel lead and it's slapping against the cone.I have yet to inspect it, out of the box, but I will do that later today.Anyone maybe remotely have an idea? I wasn't pushing it but 1/4 gain, lol...It sounds pretty good for a single 12". So far I'm not impressed though, with the tapping noise, but I am impressed with the loudness of it. It gets loud with almost no gain, and no bass boost.I hooked a meter up to it, and the #'s aren't running . I have it @ 1 ohm and it's stable. So I'm not sure. February 5, 200817 yr LP freq is set to high ?boxx has broken and is making noise ?wire from terminal cup too loose or too tight and slapping inside the boxx ?
February 5, 200817 yr Author LP frequency is at a little below half...I would hope the box isn't damaged, but we'll see.I haven't took the sub out of the box yet, but I will here in a few hours. I get off work early and my top priority is to figure out the slapping sound.Weird thing is, I only hear it when the bass note is real high...I don't hear it when the note is extremely low. This sub beats the F*** up on the low notes. Feel it in your chest but the slapping sound really concerns me. Edited February 5, 200817 yr by WildSebring

So I'm not sure. if the coils are reading correctly, it's not a tinsel issue. IIRC, the tinsels are woven, and if you heard tinsel slap, you'd have a major issue.also, after reading your next post, where you state you only hear it at the upper end, i'd suspect something else is the issue anyway. since the sub will typically be moving more at the lower end, there is a lot less chance of tinsel slap up high. i'd check xover point as wll first, make sure your not playing too high, though i dunno if that would create a slapping sound. it does sound like more of an box issue, or somethign in the box.of course i could jsut be way of base, lol. in any case, keep us updated!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 8, 200817 yr sounds like a crossover point problem to me. you should start around 80hz and fine tune from there.
February 8, 200817 yr i had a mojo 12's i could never get it to please me. i got fustrated and took it out of my wrecker and gave it to a kid next door. he likes it!
February 8, 200817 yr I run them. I was going to say mabe a cracked dustcap but Im assuming since you checked the coils you have also seen the cone
February 9, 200817 yr one last thing...is the mojo of the newer version? ie: replaceable motor and or basktet assembly? if so, make sure all bolts are tight.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
February 22, 200817 yr Author Sorry its been a while since I could mess with it, work has kept me busy and all..I did figure out the problem, and yes it is the newer version of the Mojo.Brian(Lord Baccus) suggested I shorten the wires connecting the voice coils, since maybe the wires were slapping against the basket assembly. Sure enough, I shortened them about 3/8" on each end and the slapping noise is gone. Shoulda made it like that in the first place, but I'm a retard so it's good.... Have it in a nice pro-box, 2 cubic feet, at 36Hz. Could use a better enclosure, but its temporary..I did start the LPF at around 80Hz and adjusted it up to 100Hz, but I have it back at 80Hz since that's where it sounds best to my ear. Haven't had a chance to meter it yet.Still only using on the Sundown 1500D at 1/4 gain, 0/4 bass boost and +5 on the headunit and it is a really loud sub for the power I'm putting to it and for the way I have the system set up.Thanks for the input guys, it was appreciated. February 22, 200817 yr My friend has two of the older mojos...tough as hell subs and actually don't sound too bad for an SPL sub.Only downside was he had three subs replaced because the dustcaps kept exploding
