Posted March 10, 200817 yr Hey everyone,I'm going to try putting my MAW12 in the back of my car and I'm going to try my hand at building at building a ported box and I'd prefer to make it a rectangular slot ported box for ease of construction. I can make it about a max of 650mm in width 350mm in height and any depth... I'm not concerned much about being able to use my boot for this and after I hear it I might make another box down the track. I'm going to stick to the recommended 51L @ 28Hz so can anyone help me on how long I have to make the port and what area it needs to have. I understand that the port itself detracts from the volume of the box but do I need to concern my self with the port being not loud or anything else?Thank you,Kevin

March 10, 200817 yr I'd recommend at least 150sqcm of port area. The squarer the port the better though, so though you can make the port the full height of your box (a usable 310mm assuming 20mm thick wood, for example) and ~4.8cm wide (31cm tall), you'd be a lot better off making it 20cm tall and 7.5cm wide.If you do go with a full height slot port, go with 200sqcm of port area IMO.
