Posted March 18, 200817 yr Hi all, I am new to the "Pro sound" thing but just putting some ideas out.I am in an alternative band in High school and we are starting to get some bigger gigs and we were thinking about some subs. I have made a few sub boxes for my truck so i just started thinking about making some for the band. I was looking and partsexpress.com and saw that Dayton makes a nice looking 18'' driver for a pretty decent price. Any ideas. This is really a low budget kind of thing but I like nice chit if that makes sense. Thanks in advance,Mike B.
March 18, 200817 yr I wouldn't use automotive drivers, but pro audio ones. You will lose some of the ultra lows, but will get a lot more volume with less power. Definitely a reason why pro audio drivers exist and your application is perfect for them.
March 18, 200817 yr Author Sorry for the misunderstanding, the dayton drivers I was looking at were for pro audio. Single 8ohm VC. I guess my question is: if i built them to manufacture specs with .75 mdf, do you think that they will sound good for my application? Here is the driver: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-085

Imperial Horns.http://www.decware.comWould do for the "bigger gigs" quite nicely, unless you're playing Wembley Stadium The enclosure's the far more important part. Then you can worry about drivers. For those, I'd look into B&C stuff - I see their woofers highly recommended by the Tractrix horn and bass-bin crowd for hi-fi.
March 19, 200817 yr Author OMFG!!! That thing is absolutly amazing looking. It would be a ton of work to built. But could be awsome! More research is needed for sure. Thanks for that link!
