Looks gimmicky to me. There are no free lunches...

looks like a little piece of plastic that overrides the internal voltage regulator of your alternator.

not sure if overides the correct word... more like tricks assuming it works. Sorta reminds me of the "preformance chips" that fool the maf and drop all the fuel it can in your engine but it doesnt really make power and after a week or so the maf figures out whats going on

It's just a diode. Basically what it's doing is tricking the ECU that the alternator isn't putting out enough voltage so the ECU tells the alternator to output .6V more (.6V is a typical voltage drop across a diode).
