i have noticed a desterbing trend on every forum...

when someone post about :

Loud

SPL

or anything bigger than a 10" sub the SQ sharks come out in force and rain on our good time.

but GOD forbidd i rant on one of there rich boy toys *cough JL audio cough*

can we have a lil less nagging from the SQ bunch PLEASE???

how would they like it if i/we go into there threads and NON STOP SLAMM them for having over priced underpowered subs & whatever ???

cant we all just accept that everyone has a different point of view as to what sounds good

What if I started saying I wanted to compete in SPL with a single sealed 8"? Would you just say "Fine", or would you try to correct me to something that would work better?

When they say "SQ", that immediately means a few things that aren't subjective. If they want SPL, then they should say that. Because then, they'll get recommendations that actually fit what they're looking for.

Actually it is you being an idiot. If the posts only included Loud & SPL it would never happen, but when you misapply terminology and then even worse bash something you don't know anything at all about it is absurd. If terminology was used even somewhat correctly it wouldn't be a problem.

Why, when their goal can be accomplished by something cheaper? That's like recommending a Z06 for someone who just needs to go to the supermarket.

There's a simple fact that you aren't going to hear the benefits of higher-priced sets in a situation like that - can't argue with that, it's not going to happen. So if you can't hear the difference, why would I recommend it?

And as for the "turn it down" comment...well, it's either going to be us saying that, or the police saying that...and I think we're cheaper

Also, please show me where I've personally attacked anyone for their choice. Usually, as soon as it turns to "man I want it to bang yo" I back out of the thread, because it stops being interesting to me.

I voted "be nice or be silent".

I'd rather be an SQ nerd than an SQ snob. For that reason, I only go to SPL threads to see if I can learn how to eventually get my truck nasty loud in the SPL department. You guys have it down to a science (most of you)... I'll shut up, watch, read, and experiment until I get something that works in my own weird way. I doubt it'll ever be able to compete SPL though simply because I've done so many SQ mods to the truck that it breaks all the SPL rules for competition. Start with subs forward of the b-pillars.

I wouldn't want SPL folks slamming us in the SQ side of the house of threads, that's for sure. The two worlds currently do not coexist... ([edit] in the purest sense of the terms)no reason to exacerbate it.

Terminology is perhaps the key. The only stupid thing I know of that is a definite is... stupid loud... and I like stupid loud.

You guys are of course welcome to call me a moron or any of the other names. I'll just pull out the pen from my pocket protector and kill you with kind words. Been there, done that.

I havent particularly seen it alot here as i read more then i post, but other forums its pretty previlant that youll always get someone from the SQ crowd with comments about, well WTF are you running 5k to subs for.

Its all about personal taste in the long run, and i pretty much take the good and leave the bad with online forums, i learn what i can and what i dont like i just ignore it .

maybe they are lacking a certain freq range that they want to bring up to the other LOUD frequencies, and thats why they are asking questions based on "q"

See, but that's the wrong approach to take if you're truly into that. I totally agree with Dave Brooks in the "stupid loud" thing - but that takes a front stage that can play those high volumes realistically, without distorting or losing linearity...and that's a lot harder to do than putting some subs in the back and sending them kW's.

If you're into a flat response at earsplitting volumes, the way to go about it is to work on the front stage first, then worry about blending the subbass to that. Don't get me wrong, I like things loud - hell, otherwise I wouldn't be building BIB's or wanting to get Altecs or other really high-efficiency designs. But when it comes to the subbass, it has to concede to the mains, always, if you want a flat response or something approaching it.

I wasnt stating that it makes it SQ, but what i was trying to itterate is that maybe his mids are alot lower then the tweets and subs and hes looking for a set of components to raise that particular aspect of his listening quality up.

the second part

totally makes sense but not all the time does a person know what they are in for when they purchase somethign , and now they have it all together and they see the deficiencys and are asking for help. IMO your approach tells them to throw the subs out and start over.

while i don't fully disagree with what you are trying to point out, i think you are going a bit overboard. every thread the last two years? comeon, it has gone both ways. i can point out name calling on both sides. and with both sides starting it.

people are going to argue over terminology, definitions of loud and or quality and everything in between. and that is always going to cause friction.

i got to sit in more than a few SQ setups, that were done by people that really know what there doing

Todd Zier for example, wow... that dude is cool, every car / truck he does is SQ for real

and i loved the VW that had all Focal mids / highs / sub with Audison amps !!!

completlly overwelmingly CLEAR...

i try to get as close to that as i can but as we all know i lean towards the SPL Monster...
