March 26, 200817 yr Nice...I want more pictures though.Motor looks a little weak though...you may need a few more slugs
March 26, 200817 yr Keep watching its going to be a Beast of a subI'd like to see some more pics, is that a two-piece back plate / pole assembly ? How many cross drilled holes ? Any idea on the final BL^2 / Re of the design ?PS: Just curious about the design, information is just to satisfy my curiosity. I have been considering doing some more custom work in the future, find it pretty cool.

Radial venting drilled into the pole circumference blows cold air directly onto the sides of the voice coil former. The air is taken in through the center pole vent and out the radial vents. Venting the pole to a subwoofer is a give take scenario. When a vent is machined down the center of the pole piece it takes some of the metal mass that is coming through the front plate and creating the magnetic field in the motors gap. In order to take the power that LB will be running to this single sub we felt that extra venting definitely wouldn't hurt! We laminated a two layer dust cover together for the MOAB.im sure if you logged in and asked him hed be happy to answer your questions there great people
March 27, 200817 yr Wow that looks positively massive!Besides these guys, does anyone else do a 4" VC in car audio?(I noticed they and Sundown must share the same amp design for the SAE-1000D and their PAP1000.1) Edited March 27, 200817 yr by creyc
March 27, 200817 yr Besides these guys, does anyone else do a 4" VC in car audio?A lot of larger Selenium, JBL, B&C woofers use a 4" VC, but they require very different enclosures than what most "car" woofers are optimized for.
March 27, 200817 yr I think for your application, a focus on drawing air in from above the top plate while keeping as much BL as possible (ie. no pole vent) might have been better. At least that is the general opinion of Dr. Klippel and a few others. But I shouldn't say anything since it could be exactly what they were looking for.
March 27, 200817 yr There are quite a few companies that use a 4" VC in car audio...mostly for SPL competition. The net result is typically higher packing density in the gap and more BL; usually the power handling is improved as well, but not always.Lots of different VC OD's used.
March 27, 200817 yr Author Wow DD i learn something new everytime you post i did not know that... for real how did you learn so mush about speakers ?im just now figuring out how to use the T/s of a sub to match it up with a box...
April 1, 200817 yr Author how much did u pay for that?I cant reveal that as i am Sponsored... But i can tell you that Pap Pound for PoundWatt for watt Dollar for Dollar is one of the best sub Co. out there not to mention they are Great People.i called this idea for this sub a week ago and its SHIPPED / on its way to me as i typethis responce...no waiting for back logg and other excuses...they just "Get Er Done"Side by side with a standard 15"2x laminated dust coverMotor4x spiders and t-leads Edited April 1, 200817 yr by Lord Baccus

April 6, 200817 yr Author looks like alot of moving massthe cone is a special Honeycomb / resin composite w/ Kevlar coating, makes it liter & stiffer than a pule cone !not meant for musical reproduction but well suited for SPL.they have a new sub for 08' it's a woven carbon fiber w/ pulp backing...you should have a lookhttp://pierceaudioproducts.com/forum/index.php?topic=345.0the sub shown in the pics is a 1 off made for me not a production line sub Edited April 6, 200817 yr by Lord Baccus
