OK, so before everyone starts about how overpriced these subs are for what you get, I have a question. My friend bought one 13 W7 about 2 years ago and he's looking to sell it now...gettin married, well you know how that goes. Anyways he said if I was interested he would take $350 for it. Im pretty sure it hasn't been abused cause he usually treats his stuff good and also I know for a fact he was powering it with some type of Power Acoustik amp. Either way it probly wasnt seeing 1000 watts. Im gettin a newer car for college graduation and wanted to start with a totally different setup, replacing all the speakers in whatever it is that I get. Ive only heard one of these one time, and its been too long to remember what they sound like.

Anyways just wanted to see what you guys thought, Im goin to check it out on Friday when I get back down to where he lives. Do you think it would be a good start to a future SQ oriented setup or should I just stick with anything but JL?

There are an awful lot of nice subs for under $350. I know the W7 is a beast, but I'm a cheap bastard and would never pay quite that much for a driver that plays 1/8th of the total frequencies in my car.

And what would you come back with after sub shopping with $350? Just curious.

I'd say go for it, can't find too many of them for that price. Then again you did say something about SQ in the future. From the one I heard, I didn't think it was an SQ driver. Could have been the box it was in, but not like this is going to take all your money away. Money can always be worked back, so if you end up not liking it you learned something. Then you move on to the next woofer, until your happy with your system, because thats all that matters in the end.

Also, I'd just like to say "Woofers" do not make systems.

Either multiple subs, a sub and some other piece, not sure as I am not in the market now but I'd rather spend less on a single driver and get something else with it than $350 on a single driver. I'd also much prefer a w6 to the w7 if I had to run a JL...not that this means you will feel the same, but sonically I surely prefer the 6.

damn dude

id say buy that even if you dont use it and resell it

thats a crazy deal and even if you bought it to just make some money it wouldnt be the end of the world

I personally also like the W6's, but if you're going for an "actual" sq based system. Then you might be better off getting a different, cheaper subwoofer because the output that thing can do will turn your car into a crazy sounding bass machine.

Id say buy it either way and keep it if its what you want

or sell it and make some money if you want something else
