I am getting a Fi Q15 dual 2 running at 4ohms. I matched the sub with a Autotek 1900.1D mono block. I was wondering whether to go ported or sealed. I know ported is louder but it is hard for me to track down a enclosure online and I can't locate a local shop to make a custom one for me. Is it worth it to go ported or no? If so can you show me a great site that has good prices to get a box that would fit the q15.

Also any comments on my set up would be greatly appreciated. FYI I am on a 650 budget. If anyone knows of any amp that is cheaper and more realizable then the 1900.1D please say.

Here are the specs to the FI:

DUAL 1 | DUAL 2

Fs: 25.9 Hz | 24.9 Hz

Re: 0.7 Ohms/coil | 1.4 Ohms/coil

Qms: 5.64 | 5.72

Qes: .54 | .54

Qts: .49 | .49

Mms: 257g | 279g

Cms: 0.15mm/N | 0.15mm/N

Sd: 810cm^2 | 810cm^2

Vas: 135 l | 135 l

Spl: 88.2dB 1W/1m | 87.7dB 1W/1m

Bl: 10.4 N/A | 15.1 N/A

Xmax: 27mm

Rms: 1000W

Sealed box: 2-2.6 cuft

Ported box: 2.8-4 cuft @ 28-33Hz

Sub OD: 15.625

Whether or not ported would be better for you depends on the kind of music you listen to...

well ive heard good things about this guy Fisher Customs, and it looks like he has pretty good prices on both sealed and ported boxes. not sure how much it will cost to ship it tho...

Don't know any buddies with woodworking experience and a table saw?

id go with this amp over that model autotek http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/shop/in...mp;productId=55

sundown is really solid and good quality real watts..i myself do love autotek but only the mean machine series are worth the money...also id go with sealed but thats just me because i hate ported boxes..with sealed you can still get loud and sound really good doing it..but i guess that just depends on what is loud to you..

@Creyc how hard is it to create a custom box? I have some woodworking experience and access to a table saw.

@Denalilvr I looked at the amp for the longest time and debated over getting that or the Autotek...I am getting the Autotek because it is only 254 with shipping included so that had me a buyer right there. I want to go ported but I don't think I can get one for under $60 that is 2.8-4 Cuft >.>

I honestly think the hardest part of building a box is planning it. After you get everything planned and measured up on your MDF its just cut and paste....err...rather cut, glue, and clamp! I had zero wood working experience when I build my ported box and it turned out great! So I'm sure if you just ask someone to draw you up some plans (which is what I did) you can whip together a box in no time.

if you build your own box you should def. be able to do it for under $60....$20 for mdf, another $10 for glue and screws, use the extra $20 to finish it off however you would like...just take your time, plan ahead, and make sure your measurements are dead on before you cut anything.

it is amazingly cheap to build a box when you consider most shops charge around $200+++ i have the tools but no experience in building a box..but if you got the time try it out
