I'm looking for a good sub for SPL comp. It's going to be in a 08 tC. I was thinking about getting a DD Z-series. Does anyone have experince with them?

Budget is no big deal, It's going in a tC. I took out the spare and jack and stuff today in the trunk and got 8.26 cuft for external space. I'm just looking for a sub thats going to win me some trophies. And about how much are the DD Zs and where can I get one?

The DDz MSRP is around $3800. And honestly.. if you don't even know the price of it.. it's not the sub you should be looking into.

It doesn't sound like you know quite what you're doing with the SPL scene yet.

I'd suggest the KISS principle here. Find an 15" or an 18" woofer that can handle 1000-2000 watts. Build a box ported to 37hz and go nuts.

Mach 5 Audio has an SPL line, The Fi BL with the Flatwind and cooling options, the Incriminator Death Penalty, and the DC Sound Lab Level 4 would all suit your needs.

The sub isn't what wins you trophies ;)

you should be finding out how much room you have for batts and amps first.

If you plan on adding approx 1,000 lbs of weight in the car, you are going to need to replace the tires with something that can support more weight.

You will need to replace suspension system if weight exceeds 865 pounds.

Honestly, if i were lookin for straight out spl and unlimited potential power...

If i had the room, i'd run an APXX off of 20kw-30kw of power, if u can fit it.

Yea your right I don't know to much about SPL yet but I'm willing to do the research and learn. I'm mainly doing this bc I want to beat my one buddy who has one 12" sub hitting in the 150s in the back of a Jeep Liberty. So I'm looking for a setup that would put me in the same class as him and be able to compete/beat him.

I've been looking into a 12" mmat juggernaut sub. I heard they were pretty good. Would this with sub with the right setup put me pass the 150bd mark? And what would be a good amp for this sub. I know they run about $700 but I can't seem to find any websites that sell them.

"With the right setup" is a huge if ;) People spend years trying to nail that down...

Don't get hung up on the individual products so much, firm up your budget and then look at what's in that price range. Then start looking at the kind of installs that have worked for your vehicle...and look at drivers that might do well in those kinds of installs.

if your looking for a 1 sub set up try the fi btl's,kicker solo X,dc sounds level 4,incriminator audio, all those make really nice spl subs..for amps id go with sundown if your just looking for short burps strap a pair of there 3000 watt line and knock yourself out just remember its not only subs and amps...you gotta make sure your electrical system is ready has well..forgot to mention sundown makes a new spl sub and you can also look into mach 5 spl subs
