Posted April 10, 200817 yr i just got a return email from power master and said they can only do a 300 alt for me if its a pure spl truck since its a daily driver they the biggest they can make is 200amp for $639 ea said they can make me a 300amp alt for $500 now i know thats a 100 more amps for $139 cheaper..but i also know its not all numbers in this hobby..is powermaster that much better that i can go with less amps and pay more or should i go with EA?
April 10, 200817 yr i can't really help you in your situation, also not to thread jack but i have a quick question about EA alts. i just placed an order for a 180 for my car, does anyone know the average IDLE amperage output on EA's alts? for instance the 180 that i ordered?sorry i didn't want to start a whole thread about it.
April 10, 200817 yr Author its ok man usually from all the alts ive looked at the idle is usually 20-40 amps less then its full power for a 180 alt can be around 140-160 at idle..this isnt written in stone mind you..its just what ive seen
April 10, 200817 yr if ur gonna pay that kind of money i would go with a HO engineering alt, they are actually custom alts not just re manufactured ones. www.h-o-alternators.com
April 10, 200817 yr Go with EA, cheaper and he makes some nice alts. I got a 180 amp alt. from him for my Camry, and it's running fine.
April 10, 200817 yr Author ya i think i'll go with EA..i was surprised when he said $639 for a 200amp alt..but can someone tell me why i couldnt drive daily on a spl alt? will i fry my wires?
April 10, 200817 yr EA alts are junk they have way too many reliability issues and if you have a problem with one he tries to hide it
April 10, 200817 yr Author have you had any issues with one personally or just heard? i gotta get a soild answer on these alts everyone seems to have a complaint on everyone..lol if it comes down to it i may just go back with ohio generator it will cost a bit but i know i can sleep well at night knowing i got a great quality alt..
April 10, 200817 yr Ohio Gen and Excessive are NOT remanufactured alternators.really, i guess i had some misinformation. i stand corrected
April 10, 200817 yr from my understanding, spl alts get hot real quick so it would overheat the alt, from what i assume.

Nate had a bad run of alts a couple years ago. I don't know what was causing it, but everyone who had a defective product was taken care of.There's also a group buy on Realm of Excursion for his alternators right now.
