Posted April 14, 200817 yr I currently have a Pioneer 9800BT headunit with the ipod interface. I want to run active and unfortunately this headunit is not capable of meeting my needs. I want a headunit that is very SQ and processing oriented. I was looking at the Pioneer 880prs hoping that it could be a direct drop in. What is the difference between the 800 and the 880prs? Also is the new eclipse CD7200MKII far superior then the 880prs? and how does the alpine 9887 stack up in this lineup. This headunit will run to a sundown 100.4 amp which amps Peerless HDS tweets and the sea excel 18nx mids. Any suggestions and opinions would be appreciated.
April 15, 200817 yr It looks like the 880PRS has something called Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR). It also has Auto Time Alignment as well as Auto-EQ, where as the 9800BT does not. I hope this helps some. Edited April 15, 200817 yr by kbkid
April 15, 200817 yr Author i already know the 9800BT lacks many of the features of the 880prs but my question is what is the difference between the 880 and the 800? and would these pioneer models be comparable or better then the alpine 9887 and the new eclipse cd7200?
April 15, 200817 yr If the new eclipse piece is anything like their old stuff it will be amazing, I'll look at the feature list later today and determine the differences between the 880prs and the 7200mkII.
April 15, 200817 yr Author i want to know the difference between the pioneer 800prs and the 880prs because i already have a 9800BT installed with the ipod interface so it would be the easiest for me to just switch out, however, if the eclipse is just that much better then both i may just decide to pick it up
April 16, 200817 yr Author Is the only difference between the 800prs from the 880prs is that it is black, copper frame, and more money? i cant seem to find any performance differences.
