I'm looking for options for sub placement so I can keep as much of my trunk as possible (because I haul a ton of sh*t). My spare tire well hasn't been used since I did my deadening and to me it's just wasted space. My question is how do spare tire well installs sound? I've seen tons of them, but never heard one in person.

Any other options so that I can retain as much trunk space as possible?

And FYI, I'm planning on a simple 10" or 12", nothing too crazy.

Done properly, I don't see why it should sound different than an equivalent sealed enclosure elsewhere...

They actually sound pretty good, I used to have an extreme spare tire well install... Hold on, and i'll find some pics.

Yeah if you have some pictures that would be great!

And I completely understand why it wouldn't/shouldn't sound any different then any other typical enclosure, because it is just that, another enclosure. But I am a bit hesitant as to why I don't see more of them, that's why I'm asking if they sound good or not. Is it because people just don't want to spend the time to do it and/or don't want to loose their precious spare tire?

Part of it has to do with where you look, too :)

You're not going to see many of them on ROE or CA.com because they aren't a bassheads' enclosure...on somewhere like DIYMA, ECA or even here you'd probably see more of them.

True. The recent DIYMA installs have been less then desirable in terms of creativity... slide box "A" into trunk "B" sort of installs if you know what I mean. :)

Guess I need to start looking a bit harder.

Too bad that car met a tree. Ironically enough, today is the day I finally finished the loan payments for that system and i'm posting about that car.

megalomaniac also has a SI mag in the spare tire well if you wanna look that up. I have a feeling that will be a bit closer to what your looking at doing (from what you've told me before)

glad to see u on SSA from SSA (i had to) enjoy the forums theres tons of helpful info and people on here

I just got finished looking at the pictures and crap man that really sucks.

If I didn't need my trunk space I would love to go all out, BUT like I said I haul a ton of stuff all over the place and need my precious trunk.

Bummer

Did the car get totalled? If so i would of hoped you stripped that puppy clean before the insurance company came to pick it up
