I'm trying to hunt down an 8” that is closely comparable to an Rl-i 8 since there aren’t any new to be had.

i take it this is more SQ oriented right?

Not from experience, but Ascendant audio has an 8", jl audio 8.

If you are goin for just loud, i am about to do an install in my ride with 8 Audioque 8s off of 4,500w.

I've talked to DJ about it more than once and says they can handle clean up to 500w all day with burps up to 900w.

dd1508, AA 8, and the rl-i are really the only ones i would consider. for 8's just make sure you have the power to push them effectively.

dd and aq's 8 are about the same.

there power ratings are slightly different but that's for abuse-sake.

AQ recommends running 500w clean power instead of 300.

DD's 8 can handle a little bit more for burping but not noticeable to the ear.

you can also run the AQ in 0.7 cubes NET compared to DD's 1 cu ft.

DJ from AQ said that he has a competitor doin over 150.0 with only 4 8s!

I can care less about the details because i'm not goin to comp but that's insane.

its all about install man, iirc pete from ttb was doing a 149 with 2 rl-i 8's in his "hellboy" box.

Jesus!

I personally like the JL 8w7 but ive never heard the RL-i 8. But i defiantly love the jl

Hallelujah. You should hear my sealed RL-i8s running off a single 100.2. Wait until I get my 1500D back from Jacob. ;)

correct. although he says he couldn't tell SQ from SPL anyway, i'm helping him in the SQ. i'm more SQ oriented, with a touch of loud. he really wants to keep stock box for the sub, but i'm trying to persuade him into atleast building something that would fit in same location, but better quality than the stock materials.

unless the factory box is 6" deep or so, the rl-i or compareable 8, isn't going to fit. i'm looking at my rl-i8 and i'm pretty sure it won't fit int eh majority of any vehicle's factory sub location.

isn't sundown producing an 8 now? it's a bit lower on the power side of things, but it's available. also, SSA is coming out with their own 8 very soon, and it'll be at least compareable powerwise. i imagine it'll be just as solid as their ICONs are as well as far as output/sq goes. i love my ICON.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

yeah, we know most are not going to fit. some you could make a spacer, but i'm pushing for a whole new box in same loaction.
