Posted April 27, 200817 yr Has anyone used anything other than the popular Second Skin, Raamat, etc....closed and open cell products with great results. I googled this topic and found several companies proving a wide range of products that have similar claims and prices that vary from the prices on popular car audio products both ways. Just curious. I'm thinking I may try something new.
April 28, 200817 yr Author Nobody? I'm surprised. Well, My feeling is very similar to the mass market of stereo components. Major brands sold by best buy, circuit city and others have some good products to sell, but if your willing to "work" a bit harder to research more products, you can find something that is as good or better and cheaper than what your getting. I'm a DIY guy, help me out. Thanks.
April 28, 200817 yr I went with RAAM. I have not installed but I can say this. It's been said to be more flexable, a good solid product, and it IS much lower in cost. Second Skin may be a thicker product, and thus cause less install time, but it is also harder to mold. I will probably have both in my truck just to contrast the 2, but RAAM is my first choice by far.
April 28, 200817 yr Most people use SS simply because it's proven as one of the best deadeners. You could also look into to Cascade's deadener. But you'll find that it's much more expensive for not that great of a gain in performance.
April 28, 200817 yr http://www.noisedead.com/ everything is about 50 percent off..so its decent price the guy is all over diy. The VBP is 1lb per Square foot..so its pretty heavy stuff.
April 28, 200817 yr There's a place on Ebay in Montreal that sells closed cell foam for poker tables. I've ordered from them before and the shipping was very fast, prices were very competitive...they have a bunch of different thicknesses and sizes.

April 28, 200817 yr I looked up closed cell foam on eBay, and came up with a ton of different types. Do you guys have any suggestions on which type to buy?
