Posted May 4, 200817 yr ive got a cheap pioneer system from wal mart.. my ? is can i buy a amp and sub from parts express to replace the sub that came with the wal mart system?
May 4, 200817 yr I wouldn't see why not. As long as your surround setup consists of only running 1 wire to your powered sub, then it will be no problem. However, if u had a setup like a pc system where everything was controlled from the sub amp, then you would have a problem.
May 4, 200817 yr It'd be a lot easier to integrate a sub with a real home theater system than an HTIB...
May 4, 200817 yr Author would i be better off getting a different reciever and sub/amp and using the existing speakers?
May 4, 200817 yr Author would this be a decent reciever? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...512&scqty=1was thinking about this amp powering a 10" sub at 4 ohms http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...805&scqty=1
May 5, 200817 yr If your are looking at home theater, don't waste your money on a home-theater-in-a-box; start with a decent brand receiver, a bookshelf based system, and a decent sub.I'm selling some surround speakers (no sub) that will play well on an A/V receiver.Pioneer is good; shop around locally for the same/similar model (Pioneer Elite).Or, even a Denon...
