Is anyone familiar with Cryptology? Im thinking about going into Cryptology as my field of interest for college, and get with the NSA or somehting. Does anyone know any job opportunities with Cryptology??

do you like math and staring at jumbles of numbers and letters and graphs and chit for hours on end? crypto is for you then.

I had planned on doing this myself but I think I would burn out on it too quickly. It does pay very well though. Most software companies, the government, and any computer security company will need a crypto analyst.

Im not that great at math.... but i know i can work on it. I dont apply myself, but ive realized i do need to start applying myself. I think its something that im really interested in. I read Digital Fortess by Dan Brown, and this has Cryptology in it. Its just something that has sparked my interest.

Do you know what field of study in college that you need to focus in for Cryptology? I havent looked into much, just know its something that i wouldnt mind doing. I have a little book that explains Cryptology but havent had to read it.

Let me know man, thanks

Chris

you're going to have to go to a major state university to find one that has a degree in cryptography. if you have to, a degree in computer science should be sufficient to enter in to that field, but if you can, major in Cryptography and minor in Computer Science, and take all the security classes you can.

Go into the Air Force or other military branch. They will train you in cryptology and you will learn much more advanced stuff than what you can find in schools. When your term is up then you can head out and pretty much grab any job you want and at a higher pay rate than out of college. Mostly due to the experience you get while in.
