Posted May 9, 200817 yr A few weeks ago I started a build log which I had planned on updating as I went along with the equipment I was installing. I quickly realized I had a baseline I was traveling, but quite often got off course. I'm in need of some recommendations or for someone to get me started/finished on this process. Below is what I've purchased already or have had gathered over the past months.Subwoofers: Two 12" Fi Qs Subwoofer Amp: Orion 2500D Mids: "AA" Carbon Mids Tweeters: Mids/ Tweeter Amp: Orion 8004 I had planned on running the carbon mids and a set of Seas tweeter from Madisound actively, but thats as far as this idea has went. I knew I either needed a headunit that could handle the processing or I needed an external crossover/processor.Here the road gets bumpy though. I wanted to pick up a Double Din DVD unit, but I've yet to find any that have the processing and crossover capabilities so an external EQ was something I needed. I jumped the gun and picked up what I thought I needed (AudioControl EQX) and I soon realized I was in over my head.Could someone help me get pointed in the right direction.I'm not 100% set on a DD unit, so I'm definitely still open suggestions.I'm sure there are many details missing, but I'll try to answer them as they arise.(Thanks for reading my rant)KB
May 9, 200817 yr Author I guess what I have are two options..1) Pick up Pioneer 800/880PRS and run it actively through the headunitor2) Pick up a double din and an external processor and run active that way.Which option gives me the most settings and would be easier to set-up? And could somebody recommend an external crossover that could be used. Edited May 9, 200817 yr by kbkid
May 9, 200817 yr What's your budget. You could grab an alpine w505, and the alpine h701You could do what i'm doing and grab the Pioneer 5000, h701 and the r701 *controller for the h701)You can grab an eclipse 7200mkII, or the new pioneer 800/880(you could grab the pioneer 6000, i needed the 5000 for single din.)
May 9, 200817 yr Oh, and you only need a headunit capable of crossovers and eq's for fronts and rears. Use your front channels for tweets and rear channels for mids.
May 9, 200817 yr Author I'd like to say a budget doesn't matter, because I'll just save up until I have enough.I normally try to purchase the right thing, the first time around. What are my other options if I were to pick up a double din besides Alpine's? I mean I know what other double dins are available but what crossover would I need?

I mean I know what other double dins are available but what crossover would I need?If you want to use the Alpine H701 for processing, I would aim for a double din that has an optical output if you want to use the h701 to get the full potential, but it isn't necessary. There are a few processing options, from what I have read the 360.2 can do an active 2 way. I'm sure audio-control has a processor that is capable of a 2-way. As of right now the h701 reigns king in processing.
