Posted May 10, 200817 yr Big dilemma, trunk car im working with. I have 7.445 Cu Ft internal area for use if i fire up but the box will be removabable so i can grab my spare tire if i need to. Will up firing in a trunk lose me alot of spl or clarity? Which direction should i fire the port if im making this setup. Also for two RE SX 15's how much port area should be used? The port area is a very limiting factor as its robbing the little amount of area i have. The other way i can do is rear firing but i must make a two piece box to fit it in the trunk. The subs would only be 2 inches from the rear lid of the trunk. I gain .2 cu ft from switching but the amount of work would be substantial and i would lose my battery area that i could have using the up firing box. Two minutes and ile post up some 3d renders to show you what i mean.See my main limit is how high the trunk lip comes up limiting either length or height for install unless done in multiple pieces or made short. The up firing is 35x32x15. double or triple baffle is planned too with tons of bracing. May 10, 200817 yr Author K, thanks for that info. If i port back i gotta keep a gap. If i port forward into cabin its at the perfect height to fire right through the dropped seats. am i looking at it being that much quiter for daily from firing up?
May 10, 200817 yr Noticeably quieter to the ear, but probably only talking a decibel or two in actual difference.
