Hi guys,

Im new to this forum so i hope i put this thread in the right place.

I have 2 10" Kicker L7's in my truck that are getting power from a Hifonics Bx1605d in a sealed fiberglass box

I started noticing the the one on the right is acting a little funny and buzzing a little bit. i took it out the other day and realized that it has a rip in the coil. Its on 04 model so it is decently old.

I called Kicker and asked if they do repairs and they told me no but i could send it and $210 in and they will send me a 08 model... i can get the 08 models off ebay for far cheaper...

my other one is fine but this one sounds horrible....

Im not too educated with all the Car audio lingo. i mean i know the basics and stuff but please try to help being as basic as possible... im still a newb.

Does anyone know where i can take/send my sub for it to be fixed? if i cant fix it im going to sell it and move on to something a bit louder...

Please help

Thanks

It'll be cheaper to buy a new one than to try to find replacement soft parts.

But I'd try to find out how much power you're actually sending those woofers, 4 years isn't what I'd call "decently" old.

can you post some pictures? The coil is made of metal, so I doubt it's really what's ripped. If something really is ripped you probably won't be able to fix it as it will require a complete recone. and unfortunately Kicker is probably the only place that has recone kits for it, especially since it's square.

...ok maybe its not the coil then... ummm yellow peice of paper like thingy under the cone that moves up and down with it. has a rip the it vertical and then another that goes all the way around...

yeah I was thinking you meant spider. and as helotaxi said, probably not fixable since kicker isn't reasonable with their reconing. sorry man. If you have any kicker dealers around you, you might call or go to their shop and see if they have a recone kit. You might get lucky.
