Heres the deal. Ive got a 08 explorer and in this thing is a huge ass nav screen. I want an aftermarket HU (pioneer type) obvioulsy for the EQ options, . I thought of tearing out the nav screen and replacing it with the aftermarket, but, most pioneers (moderately priced up 500$) are single din. Which in turn would leave me with an ass ton of space. Two questions/two scenarios. 1.) If i were to rip out the nav screen is there anything i could get to take up the extra space. Ive looked for adapters and such, but, nothin.2.) If i were to keep the nav screen in and mount my HU somewhere else, how would i wire them so both are functioning? I would like them functioning considering it would be kinda ridiculous having a huge black screen. It would be greatly appreciated for some feedback, that is, if this is possible...

Here is a pic of my dash... http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/explorer/gallery/ ..Mind you its being made right now, Im out of town..

and for example a pio-9800 for the HU

if u want just a single din, fill it up with processors if u want to use them or maybe even a smaller sized screen under or over the single din stereo.

Its not i "want" a single din, its the fact that most all double din HU (that will fill up space) dont have the same capabilities -as far as EQ goes- as single din HU's, without paying a g or so for them. I know alpine has some great double din HU's but the ones ive found, youd also are going to need a processor...

then just get a double din with an external EQ... why not?

Ok, i guess i didnt hint enough that i DIDNT want to spend a g for a HU and even more for the processor....

I would like some input based on my first post, if anyone has any that would be great.

well i can help with that too!

The IVA-W205 can be had for under $700 and i'm sure you can get an external EQ for around $300, definitely cheaper as well.

I bought my w205 for around $640

and uhh where did u find yours at...the 205 is 900 on crutch and everywhere else ive looked....

I wouldn't even go the route of a new HU. I'd interface a processor to the existing system.

Something like the RF360.2, JL CleanSweep etc.

That way you keep your screen and all your options while adding EQ control.
