Posted May 30, 200817 yr Correct me if I'm wrong, is it true that the more X-Max a sub has the louder it'll get sealed? If so, has anyone tried the FI Q series subs sealed yet? 27mm sounds like a really good amount of excursion. Was wondering because a friend of mine is considering a pair of them sealed with a 2000 - 2500 watt amp and he prefers sealed setups and wants a loud sealed setup with good SQ.
May 30, 200817 yr Loud = ported, and his preference perhaps is biased since he has just heard crap boxes in the past...otherwise of course if he were truly SQ pushed then loud wouldn't have been a priority. As for the Xmax question, sort of but don't only look at it as there are a lot of other variables.
May 30, 200817 yr Not necessarily. Xmax is a factor, but not the determining one.edit: damn you sean.

They got pretty loud for a sealed 10 inch setup and had awesome SQ and dropped low as fvck. I want a pair of 12s for a sealed setup that'll do those same exact things. I do like ported boxes but prefer the flat response of a sealed setup and I know there are subs out there that don't sacrifice output for flat response in a sealed setup. The W7s are a good example of that. I was wondering if the FI Q series could do that being they have alot of excursion? I'm also looking at a pair of PG Ti Elite 12s for my friend as well. May 31, 200817 yr also another thng to look at i the subs qts value, don't get one thats super low or else your sealed box will have to be huge or it'll be peaky. If i were you i'd look into some SI mags. i hear that they excell sealed and will get plenty low enough.

Do they perform as well as the old ones?
May 31, 200817 yr Author Q or ICON >> Ti EliteAre those subs really better than the Ti Elite or is that your opinion? Is your opinion based on they perform better or that you don't like the Ti Elite? Not trying to be a d!ck, just curious. BTW, how much would either pair need to get good and loud sealed without frying them?

Do they perform as well as the old ones?Unless you're mounting them inverted or have a Plexiglas enclosure, you'll never notice any cosmetic change. And yes, they perform better than the previous generation, IMO

I never said better, I said >> meaning that is what I'd pick. There is no "better", "best" or what not as everything is install dependent. Could I have heard a badly setup Ti, sure, but either way the other options are much more appealing to me.

Basically I want either a pair of W7s or a pair of subs that'll get as loud or louder and sound as good sealed. So many people hate on the W7s, yet they are honestly hard to beat in a sealed setup. Of course I can now tell from your bias that the loud portion is overweighing the sounding good portion

I just like the way the W7s sound alot. However I know there gotta be subs that can get just as loud or louder and also have great sq sealed. Edited June 1, 200817 yr by Jysoe
June 1, 200817 yr Get an FI Q, an SSA ICON, a Mach5 IXL, or a SI Mag. As for the w7 are you sure you like the way it sounds or is the hype getting to you. I would be very curious as to the installation that you heard it in where it was so great.

I would be very curious as to the installation that you heard it in where it was so great.Yeah, they sounded awesome. Unlike alot of people on forums, hype doesn't get me to buy subs. Alot of people hate on the W7s just because they simply can't afford them. So they start saying that their cheaper subs sound better. If I bought subs due to hype I would have owned RE Audio, Treo, ED Audio ect. The W7 setup I heard was a pair of 10 inch W7s sealed powered off the 1000 watt JL amp in the back of an Acura Integra. I would have swarn they were a pair of 12s until he showed me. Edited September 24, 200816 yr by Jysoe
