ok, im kinda new, so this might be a stupid question, but why are bass knobs so bad like everyone says?

Bass boost is what everyone says is bad. Personally I see no need for a knob either, but I don't every want exaggerated bass/

not if you want to reproduce music the way intended.

The real problem with bass boost is that most amps don't have the headroom to allow its use without clipping to hell and back. Unless you set the gain using a tone that is the same freq as the center boost freq and with the boost where you want it all the time, the amp will clip.
