Posted June 9, 200817 yr I'm looking to upgrade the midbass performance in my truck, while still blending in with the rest of my equipment and sounding good. I know I will not be able to keep up with my substage ever, because I am a basshead, but thats OK with me.I was looking at a set of the Peerless SLS 8" drivers. They would be mounted in my doors, right next to my set of Pioneer PRS C720 component speakers. Door will be sealed and deadened. I have around 150-200 watts available per channel for just midbass. I'm running stereo with no rear fill. I don't have any external processors but I have a P800-PRS head deck with the rear channels unused. What would I all need, and need to do setup wise, to run dedicated midbass drivers?
June 9, 200817 yr Sounds like you've got it covered. Speakers, power, processing, mounting deadening. That's about it.
June 10, 200817 yr Indeed you can use the 800 to bandpass the SLS's and HP the 720 set, while I'd normally recommend much more of a dedicated midrange driver than the mid on the 720 to go with the SLS it will get you buy for a while.
June 10, 200817 yr Author Thanks, sounds like I'll go for it as soon as I find a pair of drivers or wait till they're available.I might eventually get more midrange specific drivers later, but I'm guessing I'd need more processing to be able to run active 3-way (plus sub) than the P800 provides. Down the road perhaps.
June 10, 200817 yr You might be able to get away with the 800 only but it will depend a lot on your install and amplifiers. It wouldn't be ideal, but there are definitely ways to make it work.
