I am looking to get one of these projectors in the next week... getting the basement dry walled in the next few days here

Also be aware that the DLP (both optomas) will more than likely provide you with better color than the LCD's will. The HD65 is also the lightest at 4lbs.

anybody know whats more important.. Lumens or Contrast ratio, or have any input on why they would get one vs the other.. I def. like the Automatic focus that 2/4 have

contrast ratio/lumens importance depends on they type of projector you get. With DLP, I'd go with higher lumens and less CR. vice versa for LCD.

That is the projector you recommended for SSaudio. Why do you like it compared to the others?

Its small, and cheap and has the newest HDMI version. Not to mention it does 1080p and has the newest DLP chip. ftw.

Epson Home Cinema 1080UB. . .Unless something new comes out soon, that is my next projector. Installed a standard 1080p (not the UB model), and it was incredible.

HD65 should project full 1080p as well.

It does have the option to downscale to 720p. Although.. why you would do that..

HD65 = 720p resolution. It will accept a 1080p signal, but converts it to 720p for display.

I would choose the Panasonic AE2000U. Don't have one but planning to buy one next month.

Best the Epson Cinema 1080 in many reviews. What I didn't like about the Epson was that you need to unmount the projector to replace the lamp.

The Optoma was my first choice but seeing that placement flexibility was not that great (no lens shift), I decided to look elsewhere.

Sanyo PLV-Z2000 is also a nice choice. Around $2300.

Can you point me to a few of those reviews? The company I work for is a VERY large OEM distributor of Panasonic products, so I can get the AE2000U for quite a bit less than the 1080UB. The main reason I was leaning toward the 1080UB was for the brighter output. Evan's review said the AE2000U loses picture quality over 100" (or too far from the screen) in cinema mode. . .

I trust epson above just about everyone else.

I think lumens was mentioned also... I really really think that as long as it's in the range of the others it's a big non issue.

Projectors are for working in dark rooms, with low light. They will always perform better in those situations. Lumens is really not that important of an issue IMO. So many other things will affect the actual picture. The only time I would say different is if you are trying to use the projector in a board room with lighs on, or a really wondow filled situation and you want to watch the movie without closing shutters. If thats the case though.. I would recomend a different kind of display better equiped.
